Got sloppy there at the end Flames. Dougie had no choice on that penalty. Hooray! We are ahead after one period. Baby steps.

Yikes. PK to start the 2nd, although that was a good penalty to take.

Decent period for the Flames, but also lucky the Wild didn't pot one or two. A breakaway, a 4-on-1, that late last chance. Need to buckle down.

They don't really deserve the lead, aside from Johnson, but I'll take it.

I have liked our three D pairings today. It's wierd given all the ugly chances we've given up already tonight but I just have a good feeling. The forwards haven't been nearly as good IMO. More Ferland icetime please.

Pretty normal stickchecking IMO. Watch any other player driving the net on either team. They get the same. Monahan whacks pretty good on the backcheck all the time.

That whole end sequence happens because Brodie is standing still inside the blue line while Johnny winds up. No movement stands no chance.

This is why there are questions about the coach. That was one of their best periods of the year and there are still huge chunks when they don't appear to know what they're doing.

Darren Haynes ‏@DarrenWHaynes 25m25 minutes ago I've watched that Gaudreau goal a few times now and I've got the 'chop count' at either 6 or 7. That was one well-earned road goal for him.

This really needs to stop - he's going to end up with a broken wrist with all the crap he takes every game

The Flames will take all the breaks that they can get right now. Overall not a bad period, and a little bit of good fortune could go a long way to helping to bolster confidence.

If the Wild weren't shooting wide on open nets the Flames would be down 4-1. Better to be lucky than good, I guess.

Anybody see Hamilton on the bench during that period?

Had his glove off. No intensity and not ready to play.

Should waive him, as if anyone would pick him up.
