I think I'm just going to take a backseat this year and let others try writing. I find it really rewarding, and I think others would too, but it can be a chore if you're doing it all the time. If nobody starts the thread by a certain time of the day, like noon my time, I'll just post a quick lineup and notes with a couple pics.

I said this last season as well: you are a great writer. Your content on game days was easily the best that I've ever seen on this site and possibly even the mainstream media write ups.

That said, I would only ever read it about half the time, just due to time constraints etc. Lots of times I'd just tune into the thread when the game started as well and quickly scan the OP.

Lastly like ^ is saying, lots of people probably aren't around CP until the season starts so I wouldn't read too much into the "feeling of the room" right now.

If you enjoy doing them, keep doing them. If you don't, don't. Lots of people appreciate them. Some don't care. I will say though it is annoying a bit when there isn't a game thread early in the day and people won't start one because they don't want to steal anyone's thunder. So not sure how to handle that (your suggestion of doing a faster short version when you don't have time is good).

Anyways, I just felt I wanted to chime in because you really are a great writer and your GDTs definitely increase the quality of this site.

I can't help but wonder if VBulletin (the software used to power CP forums) has a wiki-like plugin where the first post in a thread could be modified by multiple users. This way we could create game day threads and crowdsource the content. But taht would only be marginally more organized than no organization at all, so maybe not such a great idea.

Please. This is where this stuff gets silly and causes people to just check out.
There is no need to call dibs on stuff like this. Just allow it to happen, and if you are part of it - great. But don't work so damn hard to make it about you.

I'm sorry. I'm trying not to be mean here. But this is why people react to you on the site.

I don't know how to help you.

I don't think the thoughts in this thread are as negative as its being made out to be. Not everyone reads the GTs, but no one wants Cali to step away. There's always a very positive reaction to his GTs. I'd also say the majority of people aren't here in the summer, especially the FOI crowd

If he's busy or not in the mood to do them, he shouldn't have to worry about it, anyone can start a thread. If there's no write ups in the thread guys like scorpion or FBI or whoever wants should do their best to cover for Cali and post in the thread. It doesn't necessarily have to be the OP

I don't think Cali should stop doing what he's been doing, but the point of this thread was so he could not have so much of the pressure on just him. Everything he does here is appreciated

I don't think I'm understanding where the negative reactions are coming from

Un-enthusiastic is how I would describe it, not exactly negative.

Agreed, that is just silly. No one has dibs on anything for this forum. If someone wants to do a report go for it. If there are 10 reports so be it. Don't like it don't read it. That is a high school mentality where you want to be popular and liked. Just do and post whatever you want to post.

I swear some people post just in the hopes they get likes.

I think high school being the key thing there. My guess is scorp is still in high school.

As long as the out of town wrap ups are still a thing in the post game threads, all is good.

I check in to read the GDT every game day. Like a couple have stated I don't always read the entire synopsis but I'm glad it's there for when I have time to. CPF as well as HD have done great jobs in the past on this for what is basically a thankless effort. I appreciate reading the GDT and hope the quality can be maintained. Thanks guys

I'm sorry for calling dibs, I guess. Is it really that much of an issue, though? No. Cali was talking about making up a calendar. If he does, I'd like those two games. If we're doing a calendar or a schedule, then those two games would be on the list of games I'd be able to do. If we aren't doing a calendar, fine, we'll see in October.

Not sure why that post deserved a negative reaction.

@ Scorpion: Agreed, but we kind of decided that it was going to be a free for all, so that's why calling dibs wasn't necessary. First come, first serve.

I'm going to make sure I'm on CP at 12:01 AM for the first two game days to post the Game Day Threads.

I'm not even going to put words in them. It will just be team logos. Logos of the Blue Jackets and the Atlanta Thrashers.

I'd be interested in getting into some sort of schedule or rotation. I'm a writer by profession so I know, like, words and stuff.

If I can be totally selfish here for a second I'd like to see Cali write one up for every game. Does a great job. If he could just quit his job and concentrate on the GDTs here that would be swell.

The schedule is: whenever there isn't one posted
The rotation is: everyone interested
The truth is: "writer" isn't a real profession

Was this decided? I think you should keep doing exactly what you have done the last few years

If you're not doing a game thread don't worry about it, one will get posted. If you know you're not going to do one ahead of time, maybe tell scoprion to do a write up. If either of you are beaten to the punch, post your write up in the thread. Everyone who enjoys reading them will appreciate it whether its the OP or not

¯\_(ツ)_/¯
