Don't get too big of a head there Pete, it's just that your schtick is fun. Moreso when you pretend to be the scholarly sophist as opposed to the oppressed Christian, but both are relatively amusing.

In all seriousness, my angry friend, I don't pretend to be either. I'm not trolling even a little bit, but I am amused when people read a little too much into what I write down.

This is exactly why internet trolls do what they do. It's not like they're getting paid for it. They just like seeing the reaction their posts get because in real life nobody even acknowledges them.

I buy more beer so I can't drive anywhere to spend money.

Works flawlessly.

Maybe. Although it is pretty clear that I am not trolling.

In regards to the sweater comment, I was obviously being ridiculous.

I hadn't even read your original comments in this thread, just speaking from exposure to previous posts.

Typically when the common trend in threads is that someone is calling you a troll, there's some substance to it. I feel like that word doesn't get thrown around loosely on CP.

Mooch lunch and activities from vendors.

Keeps the personal op costs low.

I think a good conclusion is to decide what is important to you and spend money on that, rather than just randomly, when it comes to "extras."

Quit smoking.
Cut way down on going out to eat.
Cut way down on alcohol consumption and when I do its at home with cheap beer.

Altogether I probably save between $400-500 a month. I started cutting due to being iayed off. It sucked but may have been the best thing for my health. Silver linings.

I cut my employees' wages. You know, so some of them can't afford their house payments.

A friend of mine just had that happen to him.

Well, ex-friend I think, he seemed pretty upset over how I reacted.

I was just trying to keep it posi!

No cable.

No cell phone data (this one is brutal to do. I'm considering adding data back).

Selling one vehicle and becoming a 1-car family.

Living in a small house with very few "amenities" (no garage, no ensuite bathroom, kids share bedrooms, etc).

Buy used clothes.

Get books from the library.

Take transit to work.

Buying a used, unlocked cell phone you can get some decent deal on cell plans. I got a good deal here on CP for an older iPhone and can switch plans on a whim if something is cheaper. We got rid of our landline, although part of me feels nervous about it sometimes, but it was something we never used.

Books and vids from the library are good. Only sucky thing is being 267th on the hold list for the new Harry Potter book.

I must be doing it wrong. None of the providers offered me any deal when I had my unlocked, contractless phone. I'm still contractless, paying as much as I ever did.

Before we started having our coats made out of Dalmatians, we found that a very effective way of curbing spending was writing down every expenditure for a couple months. You quickly see what is frivolous/unncessary and feel a sense of shame if you have to write down somethiing stupid. I think it works much the same way if you want cut your calorie intake...
