Have a momentum scale in the game. Teams who have the momentum, give them player and goalie advantage for the time being, it only makes it more realistic.

Player domination gauge - players who get hot in a game, have 2 or 3 strong shifts and start to dominate a game - make them stronger and more powerful. Meaning, their skills will be increased for the time being.

Big hits should be more interactive, zoom in, show the big hits up close (like on tv), and even replays after that whistle.

Goals should have replays right after from multiple views - like on tv.

Goalies losing their sticks. This happens often, so why not in the game.

Customizeable goalie equipment.

Penalties for hitting after the whistle. Never understood why they never had this. Have random scrums after the whistle where players have the opportunity to fight or throw a punch but will be penalized for doing so.

Crowds have to be much more interactive and graphically enchanced - like real people. Meaning they wont all look the same! I need fans to go crazy when the home team scores. The celebration of the fans in these games is nowhere near the intense level of celebration at a real NHL game. I hear wimpy little cheers when the home team scores in these games. I would also like the crowd to get louder when there is intense action in the game such as breakaways, 2 on 1's, powerplays, last 2 minutes of a 2-1 game or even tied. Pounding on the glass, throwing stuff on the ice when their home team is getting killed. What about stuff on the jumbo tron during intermissions? PLay clips from real NHL hockey! Seriously, send the EA sound crew to a NHL hockey game and take notes of the loudness of fans and how they react to situations.

Have teams intro songs, get rid of the EA junk and play real life stuff. Not enough in between whistles music.

Make the playoffs something to remember. I dont play 82 game for nothing ). If a team is on the verge of elimination, make that team play better and desperate, hitting more, playing more to their style.

Have different ice conditions for every arena, and have it change as the seasons go on. Playing in EDM should be alot easier than in spring in Dallas.

If possible beable to save goals that you like and maybe at the end of the season beable to hightlight some of those memories and watch them in a short movie goals, hits, fights, saves that you saved.

DO STUFF AFTER THE WHISTLE - It's been mentioned but I'll say it again: You should be able to do stuff after the whistle such as slashing, high sticking, punching, etc. and suffer the consequences for that. This could also have effects on team morale, etc.

Superstar mode like in madden

A crowd that watches the puck, not a crowd that stares straight ahead.

So there is really no fantasy draft for dynasty mode?

I've started 3 teams thinking I just missed the option each time.

Holy waste of system resources batman. They could do this, but the game's performance would suffer horribly. Do you really watch the crowd when you are PLAYING the game?

Customizeable goalie equipment.
You can do that this year using the player editor though it's limited to so many designs.

And is it supposed to be this hard to win a faceoff? Not sure about on the other systems but I'll consistently go entire games without winning a faceoff. I don't know if it's problems with my timing or what.
I don't think I saw anyone else answer this yet. I had the same thing at first... but you kind of have to hold down A for faceoffs. It's not just a tap of A. There's still a lot of timing, but I've gone from 0% faceoff percentage to over 50% so I'm improving. [/b][/quote]
Thanks for the tip. Not sure why they would make such a drastic change from the way EA's always had things. Plus what's the deal with no instructions? Am I missing something here? Did PC/Xbox/PS2 users get instructions? Nothing to teach you the ropes within the game either...

It's weird you're having problems with faceoffs cause for me it's the exact opposite. All I do is wait until the ref is about to drop the puck and hit the pass button and I win most faceoffs. It's a little harder against the better teams but I can still win atleast half of them.

It'll take a bit of time but has anyone tried editing the rebound control slider for every goalie before starting a season? I've heard on another message board that it helps with reducing the amount of rebounds.

I am also having a terrible time winning face-offs. I'm only winning 1-2 a game against my brother. don't get it.

The highlight for me so far was drilling Rico Fata through the glass.

Overall, I think this game is too arcady and not very fun to play single player. The D sux and traditional goal methods such as 1-timers and dekes are way too easy to score on.
Not only did they put NHL 94 in the game, but I'm begginning to think they used the same engine.
Fun for a quick play with some friends, but not a good simulator. I have no interest in playing a career mode in this game, since things are getting repetitive fast.

At first I was awful at faceoffs too, I was only winning one or two per game.

It's all about timing though. I found the good niche and now I win more than 50% of them per game.

im not playing the game anymore, once again due to another super CHEAP and unrealistic god like AI with 100% shot acc., I finally went to difficult, since med. was too easy. I was just dancing all over the ice, felt like practice - Chris Simon able to go end to end everytime - so lame. Was outshooting the A.I. 4 to 1 ratio, but they always score with cheapass goals. Ex. putting the puck at net and the goalie goes down, ***...and they get a easy tap in when I have a guy back there already! Or even better when they snap one from the blue line on a one on two. They do this 4 or 5 times a game, when i outshoot them like a shooting gallery.

Its so unrealistic. Difficult is the only level that actually makes it challenging, but I have to put the sliders up a few notches for like shot acc. pass speed, assist, and checking to full or else its impossible to check them. Try diff. with the hardest settings, I swear it is impossible!

I dont know, im sick of how cheap the AI is. And in diff. they are even more cheap - for ex. scoring in the first 2mins of each game or on their first 2 shots, and always scoring on the PP by again my goalie flopping everytime.

Their accuracy seems to go up in retaliation for their shot totals going down. I think it's a cheap way to program the AI to be more "competitive" if you're limiting the number of shots they can manage. So much for playing good defense - do that and your goalie is liable to stink up the whole arena. This should be fixed to better simulate REAL HOCKEY. Strong defensive play on the puck does not make goalies go blind and turn stupid.

Whatever, im not gonna get stressed over another stupid EA game. If anyone wants it let me know, $30.

How about the Hit/Skill Stick? What the hell is bruise control? Does it do anything else on offence other than some random special move? Is there any way to control what move Iggy performs in the slot?

It's not random. Each direction on the stick does a different move. If you hold down L1 (or was it L2) and then hit the stick there are 4 more moves.
