Lately I thought it would go Puljujärvi, Juolevi, Dubois, Tkachuk, so I'm not surprised.
To me there's some uncertainty about Puljujärvi's skills rounding into real first line level. Great potential but he's been slightly overrated by some. Tkachuk is an equally good fit.

Flames stick in North America for first round picks - Monahan, Bennett, Tkachuk!

McKenzie on NBC didn't seem to rule out Tkachuk starting in Calgary.
Would love him to work on his skating, but as long as he has the intelligence to keep up with Gaudreau & Mony we'll be laughing.

Can't believe Tkachuk fell to us! Was fully expecting him to be gone.

Tkachuk seems very well spoken. Happy to be a flame and tons of good things to say about us. I like him a lot. I LOVE him. I was in the Nylander camp but I couldnt be happier with another terrier to play with Sam Bennett. I think he seems like a great character guy and has a lot to offer.
I'm very happy with the pick! If he works on his skating a bit he will be a STEAL at 6.

Matthew Tkachuk’s skating was weak at the start of last year (2014-15 with the US NTDP), but improved as the year went on and that improvement continued through this season. He now shows above average speed. He also has great agility, and is able to maneuver through traffic both with and without the puck. Tkachuk’s lower body shows power and balance, and helps him to protect the puck in the cycle and to attack the net. He could stand to add a little more muscle to his frame overall, and as he does this will only continue to improve.

Crazy how similar this all is to the Monahan and Bennett selections.

The only thing my Toronto and Canucks friends have to make fun of us that the Flames never gave him a hat with the jersey.. They said they can't afford it. lol

Holy crap guys. Relax on the Nylander will be a better player. I was in the Nylander camp for the fact he is a RW and born in Calgary and has a high skill game. I'm over the moon with Tkachuk and you should be as well. He is just what we need in terms of the type of game he plays and I think he will be a stud for us. Can we all just be happy we got one of the highest ranked forwards in the draft at number 6?
This reminds me so much of Monahan falling into our laps and Bennett dropping. What an awesome time to be a fan of this team.
