I just hope we refer to him as Dim Benning from here on out.

I love it when a good, topical and accurate nickname just comes together.

Jason Botchford @botchford
general consensus around the draft is that the canucks will be fined for those "tampering" comments. league has talked to team already

I'm there, but can you really ask for that when you have the word derp in your profile?

Since when is derp offensive?
There is a movement specifically about people not using the r-word. Is there a movement that I'm not aware of about derp?
Or are you just being contrarian?

Derp as in Derp face (which is how I've seen it been used on here to describe Taylor Hall) is shot at the facial expressions made by those with mental disabilities.

How can one be against the use of the R word but still feel that derp is ok?

Derp to me just means stupidity. I've never heard about it being associated with mental disability. However, if that's the case, it should be stopped being used. But again - that's not something that I've been aware of to this point.

Derp is fine. And I believe it originated from South Park no?

Derp is 100% okay. It's a made up word from South Park. It comes from a character called "Mr. Derp" who was known for being slapsticky.

Derp is not associated with people with mental disabilities and doing so is offensive.

Can someone link to me or copy and paste the part of the CBA that Jim Benning allegedly contravened?

All good, I don't actually think you were trying to be offensive, and I'm going to back away. Urban dictionary has the definition of Derp as I described it, and to be honest is how I've always taken it.

But I'm going to back away, I do appreciate your ask on dropping the R word, so I shouldn't have come off as challenging as I did. I'm lucky enough not to have had much personal experience with that type of stuff, but helped out with the Special Olympics charities a bit in the past, and the campaign to stop using and impact of the R word really reasonated with me after that experience.
