that is not what incorrect means (they very well may take him, even as a UFA as he would likely be the best goalie available - and no cost to trying to sign him)

There's this rumor coming out of Amurica that I totally had sex with Angelina Jolie, I can neither confirm nor deny these awesome rumors.

So they are going to waste one of their expansion selections on a goalie who could walk in a week?
Basically getting negotiating rights is worth one of their 30 picks?

I'll be honest Mackenzie can call someone a dim bulb all he wants
But if Mackenzie is calling his own tweet non-news he shouldn't have tweeted it
And having gone back and read it a few times, why wouldn't someone take it and run...
Mackenzie was grasping and now he's part of the entire rumor origin.
Should have known better.

Maybe - if they feel they have a chance of signing him.
Tampa is in a cap crunch

Hey Guys, I'm hearing that the deal with Tampa is now in doubt because of Bishops NMC.

It was honestly a Q and A question. He perfectly explained the context of his tweet.

I'm a bit worried too. His injury history means that Ortio (or whoever our back up) might very well play a large portion of the season. Would anyone here trust Ortio to play 40+ games at this stage? I sure wouldn't and that very well might be what happens.
I'm not too worried about his age since goalies age pretty well. 29 is right in his prime. Kipper signed his 6 year deal when he was 31 and not a single person batted their eye at that time. Kipper at 31 was one of the best in the league and Bishop at 29 is currently one of the best. His UFA status doesn't worry me and I think the Flames will sign him to a fair market deal and Bishop will have the opportunity to have the #1 spot as solidly his own.
I just pray the asking price isn't too much. If it is indeed a 1st rounder for next year going to TB, the pressure will be on to make the playoffs and make it worth it. I know the Flames will be expected to take steps forward next season, but we will still be only in year 4 of the rebuild when that 1st rounder comes into play and to me that's a pretty big gamble.

Very uncomfortable giving up major assets for a goaltender who will be looking for a big contract shortly... Hope it's not more than a rumor

Me too. He is the only known goalie available out there that could legitimately give Flames a chance. And he IS a great goalie. (Reimer is not a big improvement). So, if it takes some creative asset management, so be it. Goalie is the most important player on ice.

Either MAF or Bishop will be better pickups than Reimer. Unlike Reimer, they both will cost assets though.
I am okay with a couple of picks and a B level prospect but no more than that

He's proven to be a top 15 goalie in the league currently, aka an above average tender.
If our window truly opens within the next 3 seasons, then this is the best possible move to make.
If Brad can manage to couple this with a 'reasonable' signing of a top 6 forward in free agency, then we're basically set to do some damage.
Edit: though of course the rumour falls apart before I can join in on the conversation. Still..one can hope.

For consideration, Calgary is aware he has one year left. It would be understood there has been some communication with the player/agent regarding expectation should they pursue him. Look at Andersen. His extension was signed before the ink dried on the trade.

I think you proved my point.
You shouldn't have to 'explain' a tweet.
So he obviously left himself open to quite a bit of interpretation.

I have reservations, because the league is seriously considering making changes to equipment size. The guy is a bean poll and not especially mobile. If the league seriously cuts down on those massive shoulder and elbow pads he wears, he could be in serious trouble.

What I don't understand is why Yzerman would be willing to move him right now?
They have a legit chance of going deep in the playoffs again next year. This year they proved they can do it without Stammer.
Why lose your #1 goalie and then be in the search for a #1 goalie. Vasilevsky is not ready to take the #1 job. He needs a bit more seasoning.
The only way I see Steve Yzerman trading Bishop to the Flames is for #6 this year.
BT better not do it.. and I don't think he would. Yzerman won't do the deal for less.
So, by deduction, this rumour is dead IMO.
