I still maintain that seeing Lee Stempniak remaining and excelling in the NHL this season blew some fuses in Ricardow. He's probably in for repairs.

The point is that, making fun of players physical appearance publicly like he did with Andersson has very little, if any, positive benefit. It just doesn't come across as being very professional.

He was asked a thousand times about Gaudreau's size.

Guess what?

Gaudreau is really small and Burke said as much.

What's the issue?

As for his shrek comment i would be willing to bet its an inside thing and Andersson likely laughed heartily even he even heard that it was said.

Usually I don't care for what Burke says but he's been irritating this off-season. First the "we have 8 guys we really like" which flopped "we have a ledge of top 6" a week later after the lottery. It's one thing to not show your hands but flip flopping like that and this comment re Coyotes GM doesn't impress anyone.
Imply he's "dumb", or imply he's inexperienced. I see it as the latter, not sure why you're going off on this.

Got me curious to see this Shrek lookalike. Looks normal to me. Maybe like a lot of teens he spends too much time in front of the mirror.

Yeah, but then many will be flipping out over who the Flames picked with all their picks even though it'll probably take years before we actually know if they were good choices or not.

Lord help us if they draft a goalie in the 2nd round again lol

Maybe someone who went today would like to confirm that this was said:

Brandon Byskal ‏@brandonbyskal
At the #Flames STH info session
"I'm not paying joe colborne 3.6M - based on his arbitration case"
-Brian Burke.
Everyone claps.

Brandon Byskal ‏@brandonbyskal
Burke also said Bollig will play more next season, no matter who the coach is. So there's that. #Flames

More from the same guy:

Brandon Byskal ‏@brandonbyskal
Other #Flames news: Burke said Bruce Boudreau was NEVER considered for the head coaching vacancy.

randon Byskal ‏@brandonbyskal
Burke also said Sieloff had an "okay" season. He's very buried on the #Flames defense depth chart. Emphasis on "very"

Brandon Byskal ‏@brandonbyskal
Also, Burke digs Kylington. Said he's got ice in his veins and ran the PP in Stockton - as an 18yr old. He's a keeper and will play #Flames

Brandon Byskal ‏@brandonbyskal
Burke also mentioned he wants a head coach who can coach solid structure - unlike Bob. No more stretch passes. Wants possession #Flames

Brandon Byskal ‏@brandonbyskal
Burke also said Andersson is like Douglas Murray... Except with skill. Loves his game, and will "play" (as in - make it to the NHL) #Flames

Weird that they were so against Boudreau. Makes no sense at all really.

I don't even understand the Colborne comment. I guess he's saying he's not worth $3.6 to which I would agree. He's saying that's what Colborne is asking for? Why would he share that? Or saying if he asks for that, we're not paying. Huh?

Just inferring they won't overpay for Colborne.

even more:

Brandon Byskal ‏@brandonbyskal
Burke also mentioned the main thing he told his scouting staff was to find big guys in the late rounds who can play #Flames

Brandon Byskal ‏@brandonbyskal
More Burke! Said the best outcome from the draft lottery was the #Canucks and #Oilers dropping out of the top 3 #Flames

Brandon Byskal ‏@brandonbyskal
Burke also mentioned he wants Ferland to do what brought him here - physicality. When he played in top 6, he lost his edge #Flames

Brandon Byskal ‏@brandonbyskal
Burke: said he will almost certainly use one of, or some, of the #Flames 2nd round picks to get a goalie. Should happen around the draft.

My guess is they would have considered Boudreau but he was either not interested or Flames simply didn't want to move that fast. Don't believe the old "I didn't like her anyways".

Burke also talked about all the interest in Wideman this year. And of course the prior year teams were knocking the door down to trade for Drew Shore.

Just an element of bravado and hyping the team and its players.

Regarding Colborne, some mentioned his tear at the end of the year potentially put him in that neighborhood.

Was Treliving fired?

Why would you announce this?

Who is Brandon Byskal?
