What happened to Bishop? I didn't get a chance to see the game as I didn't even know there was hockey today... LOL... I wonder if it's in the Pens favor now to win the series now that Bishop is gone.

Bishop twisted awkwardly and landed on his leg. It was a bit of a freak accident.

Cooper: Bishop had X-rays. Came back negative. Doesn't offer a description/time table of the injury. "Hoping for the best."
Still can not for the life of me figure out why they didn't take his helmet, glove and blocker off before they lifted him lol. Clearly they do not care about there backs. Did not look good, I am guessing a serious knee issue
Great structure. Shows you can do it without needing the size
1) they've played Detroit and the Islanders - very different game when you're playing LA, Anaheim and St Louis
2) not only are their defense pretty big and physical, but Callahan and Killorn have been leading the way with very physical play, and they haven't been alone.
I'll say it again: the point with size/grit isn't that you win by being the biggest (you don't), it's that you can't win if you aren't big/physical enough.
The Flames are small and soft. As long as that continues, they will continue to be dominated by teams like Anaheim and St Louis.

X rays show bone damage. They don't show things like muscle or ligament damage. Which is always what this was going to be.

Agreed but during the broadcast much speculation was about a broken leg or ankle. Even a knee sprain can put him out for the series, never mind torn ligaments.

Didn't Pittsburgh already beat Washington with that contrast in styles? small/fast vs big/heavy?
That game was a joke, not the pens team we have seen in R1 and R2. Dirty hits from TB and no games lost for the hit on Letang, I find that shocking as hell.
But man oh man, I don't think I have seen so many bounces not go a teams way, it was just unreal.
But the pens are a great team and will step it up in game two.

They've got size alright. They've just got it concentrated in their big, mobile defense. IMO their defense is underrated and a big part of why they shut down other teams.
Hedman 6'6
Coburn 6'5
Sustr 6'7
Harrison 6'2
Koekkoek 6'2
Their defense and the shutdown work of Brian Boyle are what impressed me the most from that first game. Barely gave the Pens a sniff. Even on the powerplay the Pens weren't generating a ton of high quality chances.

If Letang got suspended for 1 game for hitting high, I wonder how many game will Callahan get? That's a lot worse than the Letang hit IMHO

He was nearly screaming/crying and was trying to cover his face. He probably told them not to take off his stuff. For a split second you can see his face expressing extreme pain, definitely was not faking.
Can Tampa do the impossible and beat the Pens twice in a row? Would be awesome, I would love to see this Tampa team knock out the pens! Yahoo report from 2 hours ago saying Vasi is the likely starter, probably the closest thing we'll get for confirmation until game time, considering Bishop has only done off ice workouts I really have a tough time seeing him back in the lineup anytime soon. Might work in Tampa's favour tho as it seems Vasi is in their heads, hopefully that continues.
