I hope we don't pick anyone from the Qubec league ... Lesser quality league imho

Draisaitl over Bennett is still "up in the air". You can't say they "took the wrong player" between those two yet. Leon Draisaitl is very good.

The notion that the Flames will be mediocre because they didn't win the lottery is absolutely ridiculous. Give your god damn heads a shake

Do you guys think a package of 6th + 27th-30th + 36th + A prospect like Kylington/Janko/Anderrson ect would get us in the top 3?

I think EDM should pick a dman but they may trade the pick or take a powerforward that they also need.

In VAN meanwhile we have Dim Jim Benning saying on radio that outside the top 4 players on their list they'd take a dman. So VAN is almost assured of taking a dman too unless the forward they like at #4 falls to them.

All this adds up to he Flames likely landing one of Tkachuk/Dubois, both of whom fits our needs great.

As for the OP and Nylander, wouldn't surprise me if Nylander isn't in our top 8, let alone top 6.

Would you give one of our seconds and #6 to Edmonton for #4?

The Edmonton Oilers were one number off winning again. Oilers owned 5-6-8-14 combo.
A lot of teams were probably 1 number off.

Why do the Oilers do that? They need help now, not a prospect further from making an impact.

Hope you're right, but you're wrong.

There is no resounding top tier defense man in this draft that the Canucks or oilers are going to make their selection on. The oilers are going to be looking for assets that will help them now, not in 2-3 years. The Canucks are on a down swing and have holes to plug everywhere. They need to take best player available.

This is a tricky one for the flames cause they are not going to get a guy at 6 who is going to help them next year (in all likelihood).

It's kind of a running in place pick. If they can use that to pick up Anderson, I would.

For me, if the top 5 picks are Matthews/Laine/Puljujarvi/Dubois/Tkachuk, then the player I want the most by far is Tyson Jost.

He is only 5-11, but he has a large amount of talent and may be underrated due to the fact that he plays in the BCHL. In the U18 he put up the most points and looks like he may be a quality first line talent. Heading to the UND next year, which is a great program.

I'm thinking Edmonton actually trades #4 for a legit active NHL Dman. That would be a wise move for them. Thinking 4 ends up being someone picking a forward.

Then hopefully Vancouver takes a Dman, which would also be wise given where they are in their rebuild. Which still leaves one of Dubois or Tkachuk for us.

Wonder if Edmonton would look to trade 4 to Islanders for a Hamonic package.

The oil board seems to be in favour of trading their pick.

The NBA uses the exact same lottery system for their top-3 that the NHL uses (with slightly different odds), and has been using it for more than 20 years.

Maybe Monahan cancelled out the Fata.
Tkachuk will now cancel out Tkaczuk?
