True. That was an abysmal call on a non-event.

Jesus...Hickey just ran into Luongo with nobody around him, knocked him down, and no call. Not sure why the refs won't make these calls.

And then they call a relatively weak high sticking call on Hamonic. Pretty awful consistency.

Lol the Islanders rink is so bad. What a weird layout at the one end. There's gotta be so many blind spots and obstructed view seats. And why is there a car in the corner?? Are they the only rink to have that? Plus the players tunnels are on the opposite sides of the players benches

Islanders penalty killing showing why they were 2nd in the league this year. Just no opportunity to even set up.

Shouldn't be icing. It deflected right of the Islanders player down deep in the Panthers zone.

Really loving Bjugstad's game in this one. Dominating on face-offs, and using his size well.

That car is one of their 2 mascots. He has a name too, it's Honky.

Wow. Hudler almost had a gift on Boychuk's broken stick.

Just have to say, this is Michael Matheson's 5th NHL game tonight. The 22 year old former college player has an assist, and is trusted enough by Gallant now to be playing with Ekblad...who is actually younger than him by a couple of years. That's kind of impressive.

Also, been watching Hamonic a LOT in this series, and he can play on my top pairing any day of the week, never mind the 2nd pair.

Oh dear...overtime it is.

I can't help but wonder if this would have been the case had that called back goal counted.

With respect to Cali's nerves, I'm glad to see this one go to overtime, always a blast.

I seem to have a different opinion than most on these offside challenges. I think it's because when PVR's first came out I rewound a bunch of close calls as I had always felt refs get offsides wrong too often. I found a shockingly high number of missed offsides.

I guess I almost felt kind of vindicated, lol. And the reality is it's a black and white call and should be called correctly, unlike most I'm infinitely more pissed when a call is missed and a team scores rather than the fact that a couple minutes was lost to get it right.

To me goalie interference calls are much more annoying, as they're not black and white and therefore should be left up to whatever the ref decided on the ice.

This overtime game is also the 3rd game in 4 nights for these teams. Unheard of in the playoffs, but there were scheduling conflicts at both BB&T Center and Barclay's Center that couldn't be avoided.

These are going to be some tired players tonight. My guess is it's some silly mental mistake that causes a team to lose.

Ok, but goalie interference has a far more significant impact on a goal being scored than whether a guy was offside by half an inch more than a couple of minutes ago. You have to admit that much.
