What's his ratio of Frivolous Lawsuits to Supported Lawsuits?

We'll never get the full details, but he's starting to make a habit of it. We just got over the whole Cal Wenzel thing, and now we are moving on to this one. Both completely unnecessary, and completely driven by Nenshi running his mouth.
He could have just shut the consultations down, say the city didn't feel they were productive, and move on. But not Nenshi, these people have pissed on a project he supports, he had to go the extra mile and excuse them of violence and threats, etc. Maybe these were present, but I doubt he can ever prove it (there would be a video or email by now), and a person in his position ought to know better than to throw those accusations around, especially to a bunch of affluent people.
I actually think he does know better, but he's read so many of his own press clippings that he thinks he can do whatever he wants.

So you can't provide any evidence (i.e. Court Documents/Files) that Nenshi has had more legitimate lawsuits filed against him than frivolous as it is too difficult to prove but there must be clear video evidence that City employees are being subject to abuse? I think someone is going the extra mile but their name doesn't rhyme with Spendshi...

Our mayor's record with respect to lawsuits filed against him suggests that 100% of them have been legitimate and not frivolous. As a Nenshi supporter from day one of his 2010 campaign, it's disappointing to me that he has evidently not learned from the Wenzel debacle.

I'm not a Nenshi hater or anything (I voted for him), but I get the feeling a lot of his fanboys are too young to have any context around the guy. Mayors do not routinely go around getting in pissing matches in the media and involved in lawsuits. Nenshi is a drama queen, plain an simple. I know people in the Calgary media who have been city hall watchers for 25+ years, and they say they've never seen a more narcissistic politician in this city.

While that's true, I bet if social media had existed in the Klein Mayor years, we would have had equally as many incidents. Probably worse. Social Media is a double edged sword, and Nenshi tends to bite at the bait. That being said, the SW BRT incidents needed to be addressed, as the city staff were clearly being abused.

Nenshi is very definitely a different bird compared to our usual politicians. It's exactly why he got voted in too. Gotta take the good with the bad.
What is notable to me though is that he only seems to face the threat (or filing) of a lawsuit from megalomaniacs. Nenshi is getting attacked by people who are used to buying support and advancement.

I have the same view of him (voted for him, but don't care for some of these antics). It seems to me Nenshi was one of the first mayoral candidates (certainly in Calgary) to harness the power of twitter and social media. I do believe that was instrumental in him getting elected. However, that same tool is a bit of a problem, as he can't seem to stop himself from engaging in these little battles, that would never see the light of day pre-twitter.

So unless there have been more successful suits against the Mayor, it's one legitimate lawsuit to no frivolous lawsuits? The original post to which I responded stated that the Mayor was giving a ton of people legitimate grounds to sue him. If this was the case, would the score really be 1-0?
Nevertheless, the Mayor is rather confrontational but I think Calgary had gotten to a point where it needed a Mayor like Nenshi to push forward and break the negative resistance that would otherwise hold back positive progress.

Great way of putting it. It must be tough for those folks, having to deal with process and public input.

Why is the score 1-0? Nenshi had to apologize, which is what he should have done in the first place. Instead, there's a possibility the city gets stuck with the legal bill.
Wenzel would have bled him dry if the apology didn't happen.

Wenzel agreed to settle immediately after he got hit with fees for his failed summary judgment motion. Seems more likely that The Godfather was the one who wanted it to end at that point.

I don't know man. Initially Nenshi said he would be paying his own legal bills, which clearly isn't the case. The mayor had to concede the most in his agreement as well.

Meh. I'm glad he exposes ignorance wherever he goes.
It's refreshing for politicians to engage with the worst in society, rather than stick to $10,000 a plate dinners and meetings with their donors.

All Nenshi really had to concede was an apology, which at that point was a pragmatic decision. He had already demonstrated to Wenzel that he wouldn't simply back down when a bully huffed and puffed. I mean, he also had to agree he wasn't suggesting Wenzel is the head of a criminal organization, but that is really no different than agreeing the earth is a spheroid that orbits the sun.

He's also disliked by his colleagues in council. A huge ego and confrontational manner tend not to go over well in places where you need collaboration to get anything done. I can't say I have much problem with most of his policies, but taking everything personally and letting your ego get in the way are not good qualities for any leader. And I'm always wary of political support built on a cult of personality. But maybe this is the wave of the future - politician as social media alpha.

Yeah, I'm sorry, but you can't have it both ways.
You can't want a politician to be incredibly accessible to every citizen via low-barrier to entry means like social media, and then crucify him for engaging with citizens on multiple issues.
How many of you ever got a chance to interact with Bronco or Duerr? Was that a good thing for the city? Did you feel connected to your elected representatives? Did you ever even have discussions with your colleagues about the mayor more than once a year?
In the time it took me to type this, Nenshi has retweeted two lost pets to an audience of 285,000 people.
Go get some perspective.

Another good sign.
If the geniuses that refused free consultation from U of C experts and chose not to listen to Alberta Health's recommendations before voting fluoride out of our water don't get along with someone, he's likely a pretty good guy.

Nenshi does not take criticism well. Even if it is founded and valid. He shuts it down and insults those who disagree with him. He is forcing out all the midfield residents to live on the streets and he refuses to meet with them because they disagree with him. He is more than willing to talk to those lap dog supporters who gush over him but call him out and it is a different story. Classic narcissist.
