It's not that he's slow, it's that he's still adjusting to the flames defensive system where they have the D being aggressive with pinching on the play.
You would think after 55 games and getting paid what he does he could figure out how to adjust!

Man the excuses people make for professional athletes performance amazes me!

To quote Josh Donaldson " this isn't the 'try' league, this is the 'get it done' league. And you know, eventually they're gonna find people who are going to get it done."

Ya using the "learning a new system" excuse is a cop out IMO.

Besides the first dozen games or so I think Hamilton's been pretty great. Yeah, he's had some tough games and tough moments after that but what defencemen doesn't throughout the course of a season.

No, it's not the system or learning it, nothing like that. The guy is still 22, so at times he'll look not so hot, comes with age in that position. Brodie was a marginal player at that age on this team, Hamilton is well ahead of the curve.

The biggest issue with Hamilton is inconsistency, which goes hand-to-hand with age. He's no where close near my list of worries on the Flames. Our powerplay is going to be much better if he's a permanent fixture.

I don't watch him much but last night at the game I noticed a few times where the forwards just blew right past him.

Man as an Oilers fan you have really developed an "inception"-like skill as a poster. You are so subtle with your trolling that it escapes peoples notice.

Hamilton is an excellent skater, it's one of his best attributes. He made one bad pinch last night and matched the forward stride for stride from being flat footed. He is not slow. Stop this madness.

Hamilton has been great for a 22 year old defenseman when you look past his first few weeks of getting adjusted to a new team. I think people expect him to be Brodie but forget that Brodie is 25.

Solid trade. Happy to have him here. Can't wait until Kylington and Andersson round out our D.

Well I counted more than one last night and the guy i was with commented on jt. I was asking the question. But a response of he is still learning the system is a cop out. Your response is a good one and what I was looking for.

He's not still learning the system, the team is garbage right now. Only a few guys are playing good but when that happens, the guys playing bad drag down the guys playing good.

I'd still take Hamilton over Reinhart though.

One of my favourite things about Hamilton is that when attacking forwards take a run at him he doesn't have to evade the hit or throw the puck away. He can just absorb the contact and make a play, because he's big.

Judging by what he gave up for Reinhart, it appears as though Chiarelli views/viewed the two players as at least somewhat equal. Pretty scary thought, but the trades were very similar.

Maybe he was just desperate/lost his mind but that trade was one of the most lopsided in recent memory IMO. I'm not even sure Reinhart is worth a 2nd at this point.
