Pfft, they've merely just touched mitts and starting the fight at this point. When an actual proposal comes forth, that's when the punches will start getting thrown between the two.
We ain't seen nothing yet.

Now he knows what I feel like when he talks.

Eric Francis called Nenshi's comments/actions "shameful".

My interest in the NHL has already been waning for years due to a number of factors. If we start to hear relocation talk of the Flames because the organization is too incompetent to put a real proposal together then I'm just going to quit caring alltogether

Let's consider the worst possible outcome.
The Flames move.
Could there possibly be a more desireable relocation for the Carolinas, Miamis, Columbus, owners?
And the blowback to Trimax, CNRL, RCR, etc; all headquartered in this city, and the requisite brand management.
Of other pro sports teams that have moved, have any had an ownership group so entrenched in their local cities culture and livelihood?
The threat of relocation is blowing smoke.

Not often I agree with Francis, but I agree with his comments there. Shame Nenshi.

Aren't they waiting for the report on the land to come back?
If it is going to cost too much to clean up that would scrap the plans before there is any talk about who pays what.

Francis is typically over the top but I do believe the Flames ownership deserve better than Nenshi's childish behaviour. I could see if the owner was a guy like Feterik that rolled into town and started making noise but the Flames are and have been a big part of this city since 1980 and he's kind of treating them like crap in the media. Pretty classless IMO.

Bang on. The only way they move is if they sell, and that's even less likely

Nenshi has never met a camera or a microphone that he didn't like. Guy is a preening peacock who likes to smugly remind you how brilliant he is.

They didn't even consult Nenshi before the proposal. Who is disrespecting who?
Ken King really failed here.

Nenshi acting like a child is nothing new, and he certainly did here, but really Bettman's comments should have been directed at the teams ownership, not the city

If Vegas doesn't get an expansion team I would eyeball relocating there if I was a Flames owner as flights are cheap and it's not overly far from Calgary like an Eastern destination would be. It's an untapped market and at worst I could still seeing Vegas being more successful than Florida but the ceiling is much higher.

Well you have Ken King talking about owners giving up $450M of their own money. It was wishful thinking that this would be done without public money but what grinds my gears is the 2-3 year delay this proposal took to stir up public debate

There is likely no way that happens but it wouldn't be shocking if ownership teased a move. I would hate that move as it is so Katz

The flood played a big role in the delay and I don't know if it's fair to blame that on the Flames.
