Does anyone seriously think Tampa would agree to a package like that?
Imagine if Bennett is having trouble cracking the lineup and isn't getting along with Hartley. How would you feel about Toronto offering us Bozek + Leipsic or something to that effect?
The response would be hahaha... try Nylander + 1st (or something similar)
I don't think Drouin is currently carrying Bennett's value, but if not, it would still be close to that.

Bennett hasn't publicly demanded a trade. Completely different dynamic.

Yzerman said in statement he acknowledges Drouin's request to be traded but his "sole intention" is to act in best interest of club

Yzerman also said he expects Drouin to report to Crunch for practice Tuesday #TBLightning

In short, Yzerman recognizes Drouin's trade request, but it doesn't mean he's going to comply. Will do what's best for #tblightning

I agree with Yzerman. What's the rush? It's not like Drouin's play will be missed by the Lightning and they won't lose him through free agency. Trying to trade him now is not beneficial for the team since every single GM in the NHL will probably undervalue Drouin. Wait until the NHL Draft.
Could you imagine getting Drouin, keeping the 2016 1st, missing the playoffs and getting Puljujarvi or Laine? Thats the stuff dreams are made of.
That's the stuff Oilers dreams are made of. Missing the playoffs and getting high pick and being a loser team. Ain't nobody got time for dat! Screw that, I want playoffs!

Not taking the players side but you have to wonder what is going on in Tampa. Something ain't right.
Anyways I offer the Flames 1st plus Russel plus Emile
I wouldn't offer our first. If we aren't guaranteed to make the playoffs with the new lottery system 1st round picks just got a whole lot more interesting.

Yeah, could be as simple as a coach that drives players insane to the point where they don't want to play there and a GM backing said coach. I honestly wonder if that's all it is, and if so that would have to be pretty frustrating for fans.

Maybe if the first is lottery protected. Missing out on laine Puljivarri or Matthews would be a big loss.
I don't take Steve Y's words to mean he won't trade Drouin. It could mean that though.
I think he probably means he will act in the best interest of the club ie not letting Drouin force them into a speedy trade, or take whatever comes up. There's no rush. I'm sure he's not interested in keeping a discontent player who wants to move. I'm also sure he knows that the longer the kid stays, the less his value will be and he may even decide to be unprofessional if they keep him too long.
I'm sure yzerman knows all of this. But obviously he isn't going to say, oh Drouin requested a trade let's move him ASAP. I think that's what he probably means in the best interests of the club. Won't let a young man take the club hostage..not that there's been any indication Jonathan is doing or would do that. At this point he can't even do that he's an AHL player not needed in with the big club.
