Vasek lost
Genie won her match 6-3, 6-4!!! Gets Radwanska next. Milos should be on TSN4 at 5 Mountain tonight.

#4 in the world in the second round. Ouch.
Genie needs points this year to get out of seeding jail.

Radwanska can be all over the map, though. When she's on, she's tough to beat, but she can just as easily toss in a clunker of a match. She plays a similar style to Cibulkova, so Genie will have to play well to emerge victorious.

Any women's player not named Serena can be beaten any day. Rankings don't mean anything at all.
Wozniacki, Stephens and Stosur lost yesterday

so what's better for the sport, a men's draw so reliable that you could set your watch to it, or the anarchy that is the WTA? I've always leaned towards having a few great players that you could depend on to cut through their draw and have great semis, but then it makes the first 8-9 days of the tournament a sometimes boring formality.
another thing, now that we're firmly in the Djokovic age, does he begin to transcend the sport like Roger and Rafa did, or is there something missing that prevents him from truly being a Gretzky or Jordan of his sport? I still don't find myself fully invested in his dominance, but I'm also the wrong person to ask because that dominance comes at the expense of my favorite player.

A reliable men's draw is better because people will buy tickets based on possible matchups later on and then have to tune in earlier in the draw to make sure that 2% chance of an upset doesn't happen. Tension and appointment viewing is the key to making a sport successful.
And if you happen to be in the stadium when a top seed gets upset, you'll never forget that either.
The women's draw is going through a bit of flux but at least it's still got Serena at the top. Nobody wants to see another Vinci/Pennetta final.

MELBOURNE -- Back in 2007, someone tried to offer Novak Djokovic roughly $200,000 to lose a first-round match at a tournament in St. Petersburg, Russia, he said Monday at the Australian Open.
Djokovic said he wasn't approached directly. Instead, "I was approached through people that were working with me at that time," he said, making clear that the offer was flat-out rejected. He didn't even attend the tournament, but he said he still didn't like the fact that someone even bothered to consider him for such a thing.
"It made me feel terrible because I don't want to be anyhow linked to this kind of -- you know, somebody may call it an opportunity," he said. "For me, that's an act of unsportsmanship, a crime in sport honestly. I don't support it. I think there is no room for it in any sport, especially in tennis."

I've never enjoyed watching tennis more than I did in the middle of the last decade, when everyone was playing for second place. That was about as reliable as it gets. "So obviously Roger's winning; who's he beating in the final?"
It was awe-inspiring watching someone so absurdly good in his prime.

and you watched just in case Federer lost to someone like Roddick in the Wimbledon final. The french open was the reverse, who could beat Nadal?

Raonic is looking really good early. Broke the Frenchman in the second game, and has been getting a lot of looks at second serve.

That might be Raonic's easiest set all tournament. 6-1 in 23 minutes.

A break at love to start the second. Not much of a fight at all from Pouille so far.

A Federer special (straight set win in 70 minutes or less) could be in the works for Milos. Using the entire box on the serve too to make it basically impossible for Pouille.
