Well if you're asking when the last team we have iced a team this poor that's probably the best indication.

But hey they just scored. Maybe they have some traditional heroics left in them. If they do, I give credit to the Maple Leaf on their chest and not the players

Don't you know, these kids owe us gold each and every year, and if they don't, we'll let them know just how much they've let us down and how they embarrassed the country. It's our birth right as Canadians.

There are some eerily self-gratifying posts in this thread that in no real way reflect the actual quality and substance of this team.

I wouldn't label them the favorites, but there isn't that much separation between them and the Americans, Swedes, and Fins.

Don't want kids to be criticized, don't turn the tournament into a massive Canadian TV event.

No one jumps all over the U18's.

It seems as though every world juniors Canadian team since like 2001 has had at least one guy named Strome and one named Gauthier.

I don't blame TSN for the vitriol and hyperbole.

Well if you are using the bench mark of making the semis to determine the quality of the team, then your statement has no merit as its yet to be seen if this team makes the semis or not.

Stop brining so whiny and see what happens, they haven't won or lost anything yet. Fair to comment they haven't played well, but it's hilarious to read all the comments about this team believing their own hype and maybe assuming they were just going to win, as the fans making those comments are also assuming outcomes before they've happened.

I think the most disappointing thing for me is that I really like Dave Lowry but I think hes making some terrible coaching decisions.

So TSN's desire to sell ad space at a high profit equals your right to crap on teenagers?

If I didn't have the TSN hype machine throwing the juniors in my face like it's the superbowl and have them hyping how great the team is supposed to be every year, I wouldn't think it's as funny/disappointing/deserved when they can't keep up with the other big teams.

Games not over yet though.

Outside of Virtanen. I don't really have a quip about the players. I'm more critical of Lowry and his coaching staffs deployment strategies and line combinations. Just a mess.

The U-18 kids had incredible chemistry and he simply hasn't even bothered to attept to put them together (Barzal-Stephens-Konecny)

So essentially, it's to spite TSN? That's a very strange attitude.

Honestly, the WJC built the TSN brand. Period. It's their bread and butter has been for 20 odd years now. Of course they build it up. It's not as bad as it can be (imagine SN getting their grubby uneducated paws on it) in terms of hype. But it is a long.....long standing Christmas tradition. Take it for what it is.

Why?

I think it's funny when the hype falls flat on its face.

Frankly, this increased competition will make me take the tournament more seriously anyways. It'll actually mean something to make it to the finals.

So you would prefer not to be able to watch the games on tsn? Without their hype this tournament would not have grown into the exciting thing it is now. So because TSN hypes it you think somehow you need to balance things out by being extra complainy?

I wouldn't say a long.....long standing Christmas tradition but for the past two decades TSN has done a fantastic job building it up and making it what it is today in Canada.
