My god, some (soon to be deleted) Oiler fan friends on facebook are all up in arms saying that he lost his edge because of a dirty high stick from the Flyers.
I honestly think being an Oiler fan comes with a set of blinders and a 20 point IQ drop.

Some of the reaction I've read would be more fitting had he died. This one injury to this one player is getting more attention than all the other injuries around the league combined.
When he returns, the media coverage will be like if the Navy Seals saved Obama after getting kidnapped by ISIS.

You would think bones repair quicker when your younger? Whatever, #### the oilers
Anyone who's happy or gleeful about this is a complete loser.
And this is from someone who yelled "McDavid sux!" after the oilers game in a completely empty saddledome as McDavid was hugging his family in the lower bowl.
Edmonton Oilers @EdmontonOilers
#Oilers President & GM Peter Chiarelli will address the media today at 10:30am MT. Watch live on edmontonoilers.com
Should be a somber event. I wonder if there will be a slide show of Connor's childhood photos to "I will Remember You" by the incomparable Sara McLachlan.
Do photos taken from last week still count as "childhood"?

Truth be told, I'm happy McDavid the phenom will not be playing for the Oilers for an extended period.
I am certainly not happy the poor kid got smashed like that. His fight last year coupled with his reaction after yesterdays McInjury made my respect for him increase. Kid just got up, skated to the bench and didn't whine. His face wasn't even wincing.
I guess my relationship status with this story is "It's complicated".

I'm not even happy it happened to the Oilers. All this will do is ensure they get another top 5 pick. Feel bad for McDavid as a person but the Oilers will benefit long term from this. This sucks from every angle.
