No, I thought he practically did everything except score. Had some great grinder shifts with Colborne along the boards in the Red Wings zone. It'll come for him.

No, it's his first season. Gaudreau was invisible to start last season too, and there is no requirement for Bennett to come into his own this season, although that would be nice. We've been spoiled with how quickly Monahan and Gaudreau have become impact players, we can't expect or count on all our prospects to do the same, not matter how highly touted.

Was at the game and served well but here are my thoughts:
Dougie and Russ look way better than Dougie and Gio.
Wideman lets Gio play to his ability
Johnny made one mistake where he passed instead of shot, i thought to myself, he won't make that mistake again, he will shoot next time. Turns out, his next chance he dishes to Gio (who had tremendous patience) and scored the winner. Sometimes you need to trust the pros, its why they make the coin they do. I guess theres a reason Johnny is ppt in the show and I just get to watch, because i would have shot. Incredible play by those two guys.
Someone will have to show me the numbers but i think we did well in the dot last night. Won a lot of face-offs we needed to. The crucial ones, we owned.

Hudler won't likely get much 3 on 3 time. The only forward who didn't take a faceoff was Gaudreau. And once Johnny comes on in 3 on 3, the game is essentially over.

Found this interesting...
Was at the game and - for me - they seemed to lose every key draw. I felt like they lost every offensive draw on the PP.
Perceptions can be funny. Will be interesting to see the numbers.

Im pretty sure Huds was out in our other win of the season when Johnny won it against the Nucks. He played keep away for a while before handing it to Johnny who almost lost it if it wasnt for Wides being there.
I think the players who will see three on three time could change and mix up as the season progresses. I think a Colborne Frolik combo could be deadly in OT.

Yes, it was Hudler with Gaudreau and Wideman in the Vancouver game.

I'm not sure if I would qualify it as a concern considering how bad the team had played up until yesterday, but I haven't really seen those moment of offensive brilliance that give you a hint at what might be coming down the line. There's clearly lots of effort there, but considering his draft rank, it would be nice to see more offensive flair pop up once in a while. We saw small flashes of offensive brilliance from Gaudreau and Monahan almost right away.
I kind of wish we could send him down to the AHL, as I think that would be best for his development.

They need to stop playing Raymond. His presence on the ice has negative value. I think he's had enough chances. To stockton or the pressbox. I dont wanna see this guy on the ice anymore

Well I guess you're both right.
52% Detroit, but they owned the first period (68%)
Calgary was 57% in the third period
Monahan was terrible, Colborne and Stajan were beasts, and Stajan solid as well.

I'm sure it's been mentioned and I apologize but why can't he be sent down to Stockton?

In his postgame interview Gio mentioned that they held the puck in the neutral zone more rather than fire it up and give it away, and thought it was a big factor in their performance. Sounds like Hartley is making the right adjustments.

Canucks going to benefit from the Flames physical play tonight:
Cassie Campbell @CassieCampbell
Apparently no Kyle Quincey for Detroit and Mike Green questionable. Detroit in Vancouver tonight. @Sportsnet Johnson and Romanuk and me

I can't imagine what it would feel like if they lost that game. They showed that never quit attitude we saw right to the end of the third period and it paid off huge. The new players know how it feels to never quit and I hope this sticks. Losing the game and playing like that, I would think they're confidence would go down even further. Luckily that is not the case and we can have heads up high for Sunday.

Yeah that Bennett play was a bit of a cheap shot. Hrudy saying it was an accident but he definitely lowered the shoulder. Probably should have been interference as his body looked to be the primary point of contact.
