How can you crap on bands you've never heard of? Why not check them out? Who knows, maybe you'll like them.

I also disagree that music these days is awful. I think popular music and top-40 is garbage, which makes finding the good music harder, but it's there. You just have to look for it.

I agree with this, with the exception of Parquet Courts. They're a good band. Rock music is dead for the most part these days.

I've been listening to more hip hop than ever recently. There are a ton of guys putting out great stuff, trying new things.

Death Grips' Bottomless Pit is probably my favourite album of the year so far. They are just so talented, it's a lot of fun listening to all the new stuff they put out, as it is almost always different from the last album. Zach Hill might be the greatest living drummer right now.

I know a lot of people are going to #### on trap, but Future and Young Thug constantly put out quality music IMO. Future has a certain sound that a lot of people have copied, even going so far as Desiigner basically being Kanye's Future clone.

I have around 500-600 Young Thug songs on my computer, and I would say 90-95% of them are good, or even great. He has such a unique voice, and his lyrics are fun.

You can always count on Kanye to put out quality music. He hasn't released a single bad album in 13 years. I loved TLOP. He is very adventurous with his music, and his new albums always sound different than the last one. I think he is the greatest artist of the 21st century, and I'm not sure how you could argue anyone could have the top spot over him.

Oh, and I forgot to mention UK Hip Hop/Grime. They are coming back in a big way these days. Skepta's new album is great. Section Boyz have two mixtapes that are really good. I haven't delved into the genre a whole lot, but everything I hear, I like.

Cue the "hip hop stopped being great after the 90's crowd"

For me I've been hooked on Kaleo since I heard them, a mix of blues and rock, not to mention they redid a old classic Icelandic poem from the 50s which was incredibly well done. Most people have probably heard their song Way down we go, but their whole album is great.

I've been disappointed in the Music of 2016 so far but maybe I'm just getting old. My most anticipated album, from the Last Shadow puppets, was average at best.

These are the only two 2016 albums I have been regularly listening too:
Spoiler!

Lemonade is a pantheon album. When you think back on the last five years there aren't many that are on par.

It may not be your genre so that's fine but if it's in any way in your wheel house you should give it (another) listen.

24 days later and I still have the new blink-182 record on repeat. Really fun album, especially if you're not a Tom DeLonge fanboy. Los Angeles is probably my favourite track.

Since the beginning of the year, the Raveonettes have released one new song every month as part of their RAVE-SOUND-OF-THE-MONTH project, the goal being to include these songs in the release of what the band is calling an “anti-album” when 2017 rolls around. We’ve already heard “The World Is Empty (Without You),” “Run Mascara Run,” “Excuses,” “Junko Ozawa,” and “Scout,” and today we’re premiering the lyric video for July’s track “Where Are You Wild Horses.”
