The former vice-president says he fears for his life but "not even death will stop the avalanche that is coming". http://news.sky.com/story/1495856/fifa-warner-to-reveal-avalanche-of-evidence
During the address, Warner, who is one of 14 people indicted on charges of racketeering, fraud and money laundering, said: "I reasonably actually fear for my life."
He added: "I apologise for not disclosing my knowledge of these events before."
There is no doubt in my mind there was some type of bribery going on for probably the past 10 world cups, including USA, France & Germany.
So it's a touch unfair that Russia will now be punished for it, since they aren't exactly breaking human rights laws to the extent Qatar is. Before anyone goes on a tirade about Russia, just remember that the USA aren't a country of Saints either. Everyone had done something bad. The difference is, Qatar's WC project is DIRECTLY leading to human deaths.
It will be an extremely positive thing if Qatar loses the world cup. I wish individual federations like England, USA or even Champions Germany say that they will refuse to play in a WC in Qatar due to the slave labor being used. World Cup glory is not worth these poor workers' lives.
Then Germany should do something sneaky and offer to host in 2022
John Delaney has confirmed the Football Association of Ireland was paid millions of euros by FIFA to not contest in court Thierry Henry's infamous handball in a World Cup qualifier.
Henry handled the ball in setting up William Gallas' extra-time goal which ultimately sent France through to the 2010 finals in South Africa ahead of Republic of Ireland. The incident in the second leg of their playoff, which finished 1-1 to give France a 2-1 aggregate win, was not spotted by Swedish referee Martin Hansson and left the FAI fuming.
Chief executive Delaney has revealed he made his feelings known in a no-holds-barred exchange with FIFA president Sepp Blatter -- who announced this week he will step down -- and the outcome was a financial agreement between the two parties. Reports last year claimed the payment was €5 million.
Delaney told RTE Radio 1: "We felt we had a legal case against FIFA because of how the World Cup playoff hadn't worked out for us with the Henry handball. Also the way Blatter behaved, if you remember on stage, having a s###### and having a laugh at us. That day when I went in, and I told him how I felt about him, there were some expletives used. We came to an agreement."
Anybody who watched the entirety of that tournament saw the favorable reffing for South Korea.
Happened against the Americans, Portugal, Italy, and Spain.
Soft penalties, multiple goals called back for the teams, questionable red cards, and Korea was not penalized for any of their dangerous play.
It wasn't just coincidence that after those games the respective Federations were making calls of match fixing. IIRC Blatter actually came out and made a statement about the controversy mid-tournament.

I can think of many scenarios in the late '00s where Canada seemed to get BS calls against them in Gold Cup and WC Qualifying.
It would almost be better if those calls were made due to corruption but I honestly think that the level of officiating in CONCACAF is ridiculously poor.

Just happens we are fans of Canada, Calgary Flames, Toronto Blue Jays, Calgary Stampeders, anyone but the Patriots, anyone but LeBron James. We were clearly put on this earth to suffer.

In my experience, fans of any team in any sport generally think the officials are out to get them. Everyone complains about the officials, always. It's just part of sport.
What would you guys change if you were in charge of FIFA?
The referees would be one of the first things for me. If you aren't currently officiating in a major domestic league don't even bother thinking you'll be reffing at a World Cup.
