There we go, Craig Simpson finally mentioned it.

So strange it took the broadcast that long to mention it IMO.

Would have been awesome if he autographed it, then threw it into the crowd.

Nobody on Sportsnet is going to say anything about Therrien sending out Prust to run Bishop? When things got a little out of hand in the Calgary - Vancouver series, Hartley was getting ripped.

If theres a team that shouldnt get into a 'goalie running contest' its montreal. They would go from having a slim chance to none at all.

Cause Hughson is the worst. Always has an agenda.

Agreed... But it's already none at all.
I like Cooper a lot.
I dislike Tampa, but that's all '04 talking

@Richardlabbe #Habs B.Prust alleging that ref B.Watson insulted him and called him, among other things, a "mother f...". League might look into this.

Prust *is* a "mother f..." though.

The Sportsnet panel - shockingly - got it right: Prust is a guy a little too in love with himself right now. He's a liability for Montreal.

Yeah wow.
Crying that the ref called you names is not cool.
This is going to give your team an advantage how exactly?
Very selfish

Because therrien hasn't been fined on 6 occasions and doesn't have a history of doing so.

Same reason i thought Therrien shouldnt have said too much about the missed offside. Yeah it sucks and he's upset but its game 1. Don't throw officials under the bus.

Bob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenzie
Brandon Prust's post-game comments and throwing of his elbow pad into TB bench are being reviewed by NHL.

Oh he has a history of doing this kind of crap, the league just conveniently ignores it.

So will prust tell us what he said to the ref on the way to the box? I'm sure it wasn't nice, prust is sounding like a little bitch

Nhl refs suck. Happy to see them get some scrutiny. I really wonder what the employee review procedures are within that org, so if incidents like this put a greater magnifying glass over this regroup, great.

My initial reaction was much like everyone else, that it was ridiculous for Prust to say that publicly. But prust's part aside, after watching the full video, at face value that does appear to have been a very unprofessional altercation that led to the extra minor.

If you compare it to police officers; they're job is to decide if an infraction has occurred and then call it. If a police officer went back to a citizen's car after giving them a ticket and started swearing at them and pointing their finger aggressively in their face, then waited for the person to react and went "That's it you're getting another one!!!!", it'd be ridiculous.

I realize the cop analogy is a little extreme, but I see the ref's role as the same in that they should mostly just monitor the action and make calls that they notice. I get the game management angle, but to me following a player into the box and continuing to berate him in a clearly frustrated and angry manner, then wait for him to react and then tack on two?

I use to get those types of reactions from beer league refs when I was either a) drunk or b) taking beer league hockey too seriously. But to me that's a beer league style of officiating and NHL refs shouldn't get upset at something said and then follow the player and get into his face and start yelling and then make a call out of frustration.

That happens all the time with police when they are dealing with the same jackass over and over, doing stupid illegal things.
