I think this is likely the plan. Get him acquainted to the team's playoff strategy for a couple days and then throw him in a home crowd environment with favourable line matches if they need him.

I can't see them going with a trial by fire approach for him.

I don't know if anyone wishes injury on even a classless player like Burrows although there's always the possibility of a small few bad apples that may wish that. That said I certainly don't feel sorry for him or have any sympathy.
