Really? I wasn't around when there was Roberts and such were playing here in the 80s/early 90s, but Roberts seems to be a lot bigger, stronger, less offensive, more of a powerforward type then Bennett who's speedy, great hands, etc.
Roberts was my favourite player back in the day. Don't kid yourself, he had a ton of offensive talent. Scored 53 goals in the 91-92 season.
I think Roberts and Gilmour type comparisons seem valid so far.
Too early to label his game yet, but just excited for what we've seen so far and the impact he has had.
Well, I'll gladly eat some crow. I didn't think it was smart to throw him into the playoffs, but I was wrong!
I did say I wouldn't have a problem with either decision and was excited to see him though. Obviously the coaches know way more than me and the development team has been knocking it out of the park all year.
Anyway, what a player! A noticable addition to the team, everytime he's on the ice you notice him, and not just offensively. Seems like he has unlimited energy.

Someone on TV said Glenn Anderson, which, if the latter wasn't such a d-bag, would be OK I guess. Except Bennett has more stickhandling ability.
Ya that is definitely the impression I get from him. Just pure passion for the game. Plays hard every shift, every game. He's got the heart and will of a grinder with a top 6 skill set. Exactly the type of player you want for long playoff runs.
The interesting question to me now is should he have been in the lineup earlier? We might've had home ice.
Yeah, maybe but considering the line up the Flames iced in the last game when they had the potential to get home ice (if the Canucks last too) it didn't seem love something they were that worried about.
i like how he basically shoots hamhuis' skate right into the net with the puck. strong on the stick to be sure.
Yeah, I read write-ups saying he "knocked in a loose puck" that didn't fit the visual.
a steam shovel that wasn't going to stop for stray objects / people.
I wonder what the rule is if you wrist-shot the goaltender into the net.
Thanks Oilers.
Roberts could play - though PPG went down after too many cross checks in the crease disconnected his arms from the spinal cord (non-medical explanation).
I love how on both Brodie's goal and his own goal, Bennett makes Hamhuis look bad. Bennett out battles him to get the screen on Brodie's goal and then he pretty much scores with the puck and Hamhuis's foot on his own goal. Love this guy!

I wouldn't have wanted home ice in this series. The Flames had a hard enough time dealing with first playoff nerves in game 1 in Vancouver, imagine having to deal with a Saddledome going nuts at the same time. IMO it benefited the Flames greatly to get a split on the road then come back home to a raucous crowd to feed off of
