Getting shut out by Cam Freakin' Talbot is an embarrassment. Can't really ask Ramo to play any better. Pretty pitiful offensive display, especially only 21 shots.

Fourth line looked good but, part of the reason they looked good was the sheltered minutes and match ups. Not taking anything away but if you are blaming Hartley for not playing them enough you have to realize there is more to it that how things look on the old boob toob

I'm not an expert but I'm guessing New York must be around a 8 hour flight? You got a young team... Should have got there a day earlier and practiced today...
I think this explains how lethargic the team was tonight. Embarrassing.
When the pens came to Alberta they were in the province 2-3 days ahead of time... For gods sake.

It's a 5 hour flight, but point noted.

Loss for words
Not a great game ,but I thought it was evenly played for the most part.
but two break aways ; one gets hooked between the legs ,the other gets tripped and no call on either ? WTH !
Credit were it is due NHL refs have a tough job but after all they let go they call Money on some coincidental contact at the blue line !
At this time of year when players have to up their game to its best you expect the same from the league and its officials
I had to go wash the dishes (none broken ) just to clam down before coming here.
Bring on Jersey ! but please roll all 4 lines , The Addi Connection looked great for a group of rookies.

Talbot, hell it could be Leland Irving out there, when you're being prevented from playing hockey nothing else matters.
|
The ref missed alot on the Rangers but it wasn't like the Flames didn't have any opportunities to get good scoring chances. They just pissed away the ones they did have.

Likely a little harder to get practice ice in New York city than Alberta

Aside from Nowak, the rest have of them combined have a grand total of 15 playoff games officiated.
To feed the conspiracy, Nowak is from New York.

Honestly, the team is not playing like they were earlier in the season. Points and games mean something now, and being in a playoff push is new for these guys.
This is good for a rebuilding group. Sucks as a fan, but playing games that matter in Feb can only help educate a young team. What I really would like to see is our vets step there game up...
Sometimes I have to take a step back and remember this is a year when playing meaningful games and being in a playoff race is something we all would have taken in Sept.

they are 0-2-1, all the teams in the race will have stretches like that, point is they can't let it continue but to say its over after a couple losses is not very accurate. All the teams play each other down the stretch and somebody is gonna lose

Is there a player in the league that ices the puck more than Engelland? It's like he's trying to force more ice time.

The Flames aren't a team that normally gets pressure 5 on 5. That hasn't been their game all season... they're not a "corsi" team.
They've won pretty much all season by making strong defensive plays, getting rushes, drawing penalties, etc. They can win when officiating is fair because other teams can't just crosscheck them off the puck.
They played scared out there not because they were scared of the Rangers, but because they were scared by the officials.
My opinion is this: the Flames couldn't have sustained any pressure so long as the opponent had the green light to play like that.
Now, could a bigger, stronger possession driving team have sustained pressure? Absolutely.
But that isn't the Flames. They don't need the refs on their side, but they need fair officiating. When the officiating favors the other team, it doesn't matter how hard they skate or how sharp the scorers are - I can't expect to win.
It feels like right now, the scouting report on the Gaudreau-Monahan-Hudler line is "Go see what you can get away with tonight, and try and get away with it as much as you can". Then that becomes "sustained pressure".

All true.
I'm as bummed as the next fan, but there's plenty enough points left to be had.
The Rangers are a good team; what, 20 games over .500? Time to regroup and get a win tomorrow.

I take comfort in knowing that the Flames now aren't the Flames of the future. They'll get bigger and tougher and more experienced and we will look back on this season with fond memories of watching this team grow into a powerhouse.

No, it would have been 2-0 without his "stupid ass".
The giveaway was a bad bounce on bad ice.
Wideman was not the reason we lost.

Made up for it by saving that goal though.
You were watching still, right?
