Probably a game ender right there. Another terrible interception before halftime though unlike the Clemson game, Michigan State is struggling to move it at all.

Alabama throws way too many screen passes. They look like the Denver Broncos out there

Well the team has been built on RB's and defence for like 8 years now. I don't know if the QB's are trusted to do too much else.

Quite a slaughter. Alabama is just way too dominant up front.

That was one of the biggest ass kickings any bowl has seen. 38-0 actually undersells how dominant it was. Clemson going to need a big time performance if Alabama brings this again.

That Clemson game was over in the first half after Watson ran for over 100 yards. Even the pro defenses get gassed and have a hard time being effective when in the second half when that happens. That said, I thought Watson underwhelmed in the passing game, so I'm not too confident they'll be able to beat Alabama.

Late to the party, and obviously in hindsight it didn't matter because the games were so one-sided and thus kinda boring. But what the heck was with them deciding to play the two semifinals the evening of freaking NEW YEAR'S EVE??? Too lazy to check, but weren't they both on New Year's Day last year? Being hung over watching bowl games is kinda what it's all about. I was oot & aboot last night (like most people on NYE) and unable to watch, which had me quite bitter about it.

Maybe there's a reason I'm unaware of, but at first glance it just seems really dumb. Maybe the CFB execs have become a bunch of hipsters and want less viewers, because playing it on NYE night is a good way to start that. Next year they should just play them on Christmas morning, makes sense..

it's a rotation. Rose Bowl and Sugar Bowl are played on New Years Day (semis last year). Orange Bowl and Cotton Bowl are played on NYE (semis this year) and Fiesta Bowl on New Years Day and Peach Bowl on NYE (semis next year). They will probably play on NYE again next year. Rose Bowl has that traditional Jan 1 afternoon spot

using my sleuthing skills (wikipedia).

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_o..._Playoff_games

looks like that's the rotation, 1 year on NYD, 2 years on NYE.

Good work on the sluthynesses. And that's the worst, I can't be the only person who found that frustrating yesterday. I wish they'd set up a way where the Bowls hosting semis were the Jan 1 games.

Looks like it'll be brief with NYE games. Ratings were down 36% compared to last year.

Quote:
Television ratings for the first College Football Playoff semifinals held on New Year's Eve dropped approximately 36 percent from last season when they were played on New Year's Day.

ESPN announced the overnight ratings Friday.

The Orange Bowl between Clemson and Oklahoma, which kicked off about 4:10 p.m. ET on ESPN, drew a 9.7 rating. The first semifinal last season, the Rose Bowl with Oregon and Florida State on New Year's Day, earned a 15.5.

The Michigan State-Alabama Cotton Bowl drew a 9.9 rating for ESPN compared to 15.3 for Ohio State-Alabama in the Sugar Bowl last Jan.

I wonder if that's partially the games. a 4pm kickoff shouldn't be affected by NYE plans too much, that's pretty early.

It has more to do with it being the Rose Bowl. Everyone watches that. Lets see what this game on right now Stanford-Iowa gets
