Aaron Vickers @AAVickers
David Wolf is pretty excited to be in Calgary: “Everyone wants to play in the NHL."
Wolf: “I worked really hard down there to make that step and I think like Bob said, you have to earn it, you’re never given it." (2/2)

Yeah, agreed. Probably wants them all to watch the game in the press box first.

That, and whether people like it or not, Raymond's three-year deal matters.

That Raymond deal is really starting to suck as bad as Stajans first deal.

Sounds good!! Sven's problem before the last call-up was the lack of confidence that's why his play went downhill. I would be stoked to see him go back to when he was first get the emergency call-up. He's got swagger and looks very confident at that time. He was actually a bit cocky too at that time but for a good reason though.
I think they should put him with Backlund and Byron again. Byron had some success when he was playing with Sven this season.

Monahan was playing a sheltered role last year. This year he's got way more defensive responsibility, usually against top lines, and that doesn't match well with Sven's game, I'm afraid.

Does anyone know how many more games Sven has to play before he can't be waived to go to the AHL? He must be close to 60 like Drew Shore. Or does his age affect this too?

Sven signed his first pro contract when he was 18, so he should be exempt for 5 years or 160 NHL games, whatever comes first. So unless I'm wrong, there's still a cushion of one year or 95 NHL games.
EDIT: actually I'm wrong because although he was 18 when he signed, he still counts as 19 that year because of his late birthday. That means he only is exempt for 4 years or 160 NHL games ... and this is the 4th year, so he'll need waivers next year. Sorry, my bad!

Been a really nice year where you can legitimately be excited about all the various rounds of call ups. Always brings an extra reason to tune in to the games. Don't see it ending any time soon either.

And we haven't even seen Poirier or Bennett yet. I mean, where did all these players come from?

Little surprised they won't put Wotherspoon in though. We need an upgrade on our bottom pair, even if that means taking Diaz out.

Too bad they won't play tomorrow, but I'd love to see all three draw in soon. Any thoughts on whether Wotherspoon would be better with Diaz or Engelland? I am thinking Diaz has improved lately, but not sure what Wotherspoon brings.
For the record, I would try:
Gaudreau - Backlund - Hudler
Baertschi - Monahan - Colborne
Bouma - Jooris - Jones
Wolf - Stajan - Bollig (Byron is ok too)
Giordano - Brodie
Russell - Wideman
Diaz - Wotherspoon

Damn, tomorrow is my 2nd last ticket of the year, and I was really hoping to see these guys play. Hopefully Hartley is just channeling the all-star game and will play at least 1 or 2 of them by the time the game comes around.
