"Sean Monahan was 6 years old when the Sedins got in the league... you know like, while Monny was learning to ride his bike, the Sedins were starting to play in the NHL."

Just heard from today's presser about Ferland (paraphrasing)

"I love him, I just need to talk to his mom. I watched the Waterboy last night and mama always knows best. Glad he's not listening"

Also from the presser yesterday;

"our dressing room is a very strong dressing room. We're a family, we care about each other. We always pick up for each other"

LOL - we know he meant we pick each other up.

I think he was referring to the team helping Johnny deal with his shyness issues.

You'll get over it pretty quick after a series win and a trip down the Red Mile, Johnny.

In seriousness...

Hartley was visibly pissed off about the lack of action by league after Game 3. First time I can say I thought he was really mad.

Or "stick up for each other". What a great guy he is, though, such a fantastic hire.

Best part of Bob Hartley’s scrum was when a media member’s cell phone text sound went off: "Microwave popcorn’s ready."

Flames Bob Hartley, asked if his go-to defencemen are getting worn down: “We’re coaching elite athletes – I’m not coaching a nursing home."

"I can't tell you, ya know, like, how proud I am to be a Calgary Flame. I honestly hope, ya know, like this is my last stop. I hope that I'll retire as a Calgary Flame" - Bob Hartley

On taking stock of the Ducks' strengths and weaknesses the past day or so:

"To be honest I don't even know why we're going there, but we'll do our best!"

Some good quotes from Hartley today:

Kristen Odland@KristenOdlandCH · 2m2 minutes ago
Bob Hartley: “This city right now is crazy red…gosh, I go anywhere and I have a fake moustache and sunglasses to get into my car."

Kristen Odland@KristenOdlandCH · 1m1 minute ago
More Hartley from today: "The priest in my neighbourhood had a Calgary Flames jersey on before Mass…"

Kristen Odland@KristenOdlandCH · 1m1 minute ago
...our budget is all on candles in the church right now.”

@NHLFlames coach Hartley on big-minute men Brodie, Wideman and Russell: "They're still sitting in the ice tub right now. They never left."

From the same interview:

"Our guys are well-conditioned. I said it a few days ago. We don't draft our players from the nursing home."

Flames doing their homework to prepare for Ducks
Quote:
"We have the utmost respect. They are one of the best teams in the NHL, if not the best team when you look at stats," Hartley said. "You ask any expert or any people around the game; here is a team that, we had two white sheets on the walls in our offices that had strengths and weaknesses of the Ducks. We were running out of paper on the strengths side, while the weaknesses side was still a blank piece of paper."

Hartley added, tongue firmly planted in cheek: "To be honest, I don't even know why we're going there, but we'll do our best."
The bolded part reminds me of something similar that Darryl Sutter said before Game 1 in Detroit back in 04. I think Sutter tongue-in-cheek showed everyone a newspaper.

"Hey fellas. Look at this newspaper here. Apparently we got no chance at beating the Red Wings. You see this? No chance. I guess we should all just pack up and go home."

Of course, we go on to win it in OT and Darryl immediately goes "Well you know what this is worth?" crumples the newspaper up and tosses it in the garbage bin.

He'd seen the Ferland for Mayor sign and said he imagined Nenshi was pretty good on the forecheck.
