Yes they would. Calgarypuck routinely gets mad that 4th liners don't score 40 goals and third pair D don't win Norris Trophies.

Will Byron get 20 points while being a key part of a bottom third penalty killing team? Who cares, he makes 600K.

Could he stand to sit a game or two so that he's held accountable like the rest of the bubble players and a third of the roster who has been scratched at various times in the season? Yeah, I could live with that.

If you are going to cherry pick some stats to make a point at least get it right:
His ice time looks closer to 11:25.

If you want to use giveaway/takeaway to measure his worth you are going to lose:
says here he is tied for 9th in the league:

I would take the multiple chances Byron creates over Bollig who just takes up space every game.
JMO Hartley needs to take advantage of Byrons ability to get into the offensive zone so frequently and help him work on being a set up man.
Clearly his finishing is for the dogs but he is a heck of a skater and brings the puck up the ice efficiently.
I like the sandpaper in his game as well and you can't over look how good he is on the pk.

"4th liners" on the team (games, G, A, P, GPG):

Bouma:. 44/6/9/15 .341
Byron:.. 46/5/9/14 .304
Stajan:... 28/3/5/8 .285
Bollig:..... 38/0/2/2 .071
McGrattan: 8/0/0/0 .000

and some 3rd liners for comparison:

Raymond: 24/6/3/9 .375
Jooris:..... 31/9/5/14 .451

He seems to produce fine for a 4th liner IMO

To me Byron is borderline but fine for us right now. On most teams he would be a 13th forward, but he works his butt off, he's fast, he's a good penalty killer and he's 4th on our team for hits. He's not big, he's not that strong but he has that drive to play bigger and he doesn't take stupid penalties like I felt he kind of did last year. He's fine on our team as a 3rd/4th liner. If we were a cup contender, I think he would be borderline, he would play 40/50 games as a fill in or injury replacement.

If Hartley wants to play fast I think Byron's good. His compete level is great and he plays like he's 6'4'. I think he deserves to play

That PK unit of Backlund and Byron is dynamite. They always seem ready to break out and go for a PK goal. If they keep at it like that we will probably get a few more goals on the PK, or at least a bunch of breakaways that Byron fails to score on...
