Never heard of the kid but from what has been said this minor move sounds like an upgrade from Knight.
Shore definitely has decent NHL size.

I've been keeping an eye on Drew Shore for a while.

I had high hopes for Knight when we acquired him, the Flames did not have the center depth at the time (that we now have) Hopefully everything works out well for him.

I'm interested to see where Shore slots in. Hopefully he can find a long term spot.

He's instantly the best ahl center we have. Is he better than Granlund? I think so

Im not sure if he is better.

I think they could be comparable talents at this point.

Granlund is two years younger also.

Wonder if Shore has any experience on RW. Playing C & RW could be a big + for this organization.
what is strange is that the Panthers really didn't try him at RW. strange because wingers are one of their weak points and if they thought he could play RW well it would solve a problem for them. Not sure what their logic is behind that.

Love it. I like Knight but this is an upgrade. IMO Knight had a bottom 6 upside, shore has a middle 6 upside. Shore is bigger, scores more, right handed shot.... not much to dislike

Heard Shore on the radio. Steinberg asked if he plays wing too. Shore said he feels he's had more success at center but has spent time on the wing. Wouldn't be surprised if Huska tools with that down in Addy.

Honestly, and a lot might disagree, but Shore could even surpass Granlund pretty quick. This is a pretty big win for the Flames.

He won't be in Abby for long.

Honestly having a Bennett/Monahan/Backlund/Shore center depth is pretty nice.

So, Florida gets a waiver-exempt body they can yo-yo to & from San Antonio. We get a similar player with higher upside and more NHL experience.

Shore's waiver situation is well-known and he's an RFA in the summer, but it looks like he's the better prospect.

In the end I think it's a good deal for both teams, but since we end up with the better player I'll put it in the Win column.

Granlund, Stajan, Jooris, Colborne. Arnold all in the frame to play C as well.

Is there a point where you can have too much depth at C?

Jooris & Colborne already look effective as RW. Would Shore also be effective on RW, or would we be missing out on a strong faceoff man?

I would still take Granlund over Shore by a decent margin. I don't think Shore is as good in the hockey sense department, but should be a good addition especially if he is shifted to RW.

Waiting to formulate my opinion until Drury and PMM chip in

Liked Knight a lot but he didn't seem very Burke style-like.. Is Shore more truculent?

Shore is more like Colborne physically. He doesn't use his size like he could.

Treleving says he is "ok" at faceoffs, so my guess is he doesn't take too many draws for the big club.

Distracting evening, but the more I read, the more I feel this is a positive (albeit minor) move; hopefully part of something more exciting for us fans.

We kind of long-game Matt Hendricks'd Knight .. Thems the breaks to win a trade I suppose.

I think we won this trade for now. Why would you want a player that refused to sign with you though?

Unfortunately, I know NOTHING about Drew Shore. I've actually spent the last hour doing a little scouting about him and seeing what he might bring.

Ironically, in that AHL list thread, I thought that Knight would make Arnold redundant. It appears I had the right theory but wrong player.

I'm looking to seeing Drew play though. Hopefully he makes it in time for tomorrow as we are in desperate need of a strong centre now. With Knight traded, Granlund in Calgary and now Arnold wearing a sling post game after leaving in the 2nd with an injury, Reinhart is our top centre and the way he's been playing lately. Well this guy kinda sums it up:

This is a great deal for the Flames, if there is one prospect I would have wanted from the Panthers (that would have been available) it would have been Shore. I had seen from multiple media that he was getting scouted pretty heavily, so he was obviously on the block, but I was disappointed to never hear of any Flames scouts being listed as watching him, so to get him is a real surprise.
I had been watching him from a fantasy perspective and whenever he played for the Panthers he always got really good reviews, a solid two way game and drove posession really well. I am no fancy stats geek but those that do track it always said he had great numbers.

Love this trade a lot.

The only downside from this trade is that Shore isn't as advanced in the faceoff dot as Knight. Having Jankowski and Monahan though helps in that particular area as they both have been good in that department (Janko more so, he's been a machine this year).

Shore is better offensively, as good defensively and has the flexibility to be put on RW. All good in my book.

It wouldn't surprse me to see us try and move him to RW but it will be interesting to see how he does between Sven and Poirier in Addy.
