Also, the rumour on other forums about the Swarm is that the franchise will end up in Nashville, probably owned by the Predators. Would be curious to see how Nashville supports box lacrosse, but it would be a good thing for the NHL team to own them. I don't think it is a coincidence that the three strongest teams are NHL owned.
It's also appropriate, given box lacrosse was invented by the NHL.

That actually sucks about Edmonton, Minnesota, and possibly Vancouver in the future. This is a very entertaining sport and league. It would suck for the Roughnecks to fold simply because the league had to fold. Four successful teams cannot keep the league afloat. I truly don't understand why Canadian cities other than Calgary and Toronto fail. Montreal and Ottawa in the past and soon to be Edmonton and Vancouver. There should be 9-10 Canadian cities and possibly another 10 northern US teams to make a perfect 20 team league.
On the bright side, add another 6 people going to the game tonight! Should be a blast!

I would suspect that even if the Rush move elsewhere that Edmonton will have a team. It makes sense for the Oilers to own a team as the money is made by churning events through the facility. The Oilers own the Oil Kings and will likely (eventually) own an NLL team. Could be that they are angling for Urban to sell the franchise to them.
This situation is really no different when Brad Banister was having money issues due to the rent paid to the Saddledome. The Flames indicated no interest, but eventually purchased them. You can bet that the Roughnecks are not a money losing venture as they can leverage the same office/ticketing staff.

Rumor around town is that the Rush are moving to Saskatoon next year.
I would so buy season tickets.
Personally, I don't see why Montreal hasn't been given a second chance to support an NLL team. Those Express jerseys are awesome.

Great first half so far, Poulin came in after we fell behind 7-3 and has looked a lot more like his old self. Necks leading 9-7 now

The Necks were able to pull out the second game and force the 10 minute Mini-game. They were leading 1-0 until about 5 minutes when Edmonton scored two quick ones. Edmonton then added a Third. Calgary with about two minutes left took a penalty at which point I shut the game off and went back to watching the OT between the Ducks/Hawks

I left just into the season when Poulin was struggling. Shortly after, Frankie became the go to guy and they won enough games to make the playoffs. For the past couple of years I thought the goaltending was weak but what are the thoughts of Frankie being good enough to be number one goalie going forward or does Calgary need to do better than that to be competitive?

I think Frankie can be a #1 - he got better and better.
Poulin was great this season - never complained - but he won't be happy coming back as a back-up. I think this is the last we've seen of him.
Great guy. I hope he finds a good spot.

i really hope this team can learn to become more disciplined.... some of the penalties these guys take are ridicolous..... be curious as to the changes next year, as hard and close as they played edmonton, they were still 7-11, i believe?

The guys that I think could be on the move
- Poulin (very likely)
- Shattler (somewhat likely)
- Snider (50/50)
- Dobbie (not likely but possible)
- McBride/Moleski (retirement)
The areas they need to address are on the left side. Shattler/Dobbie scored 2-3 goals less per game this year than last year. They need to change up that side as it has become stale. They can probably get someone in the draft.
Dickson and Evans are virtually untouchable and arguably the best duo in the entire league. Veltman and Pollock do great work off ball and a great vets.
You also need to bring in some more athleticism and toughness on D.
So I think you'll see them take someone for the left, and a dman in the draft - and then move out a couple of the names above for picks or more help on D.

I attended my first Roughnecks game last night what really amazed me was seeing close to 16,000 fans in the Dome for a lacrosse game. It was a different experience for me when compared to going to a hockey game at the Dome. The guy doing the in game commentary was a hilarious in the way he was able to get the fans engaged with the on going play. Very professional.

The Snider mention is curious. Doesn't he check off a lot of boxes, being the best face off man in the league, toughest man on the team(?) and local (low cost to bring to a home game)?
I know from a fan's perspective he comes with frustrations but he still contributes in many ways.

Roughnecks crowds are much louder (and much drunker) than the average Flames crowd. Function of the sport, I think.
At any rate, the lower bowl seats about 6400, and the first two levels seat 16,389 (or 16,189. I forget exactly which.) Knowing that, easy to see the announced attendance of about 13k.
