So much good here
- Bob Frikken Hartley is with us for the long haul.
- Finally some good news after days and days and days of bad.
- Treliving demonstrating that he isn't swayed by the good or the bad, he knows what he has and is level-headed with what it will be.
- The guys in the room go to the wall for a boss like Hartley. It wouldn't have been huge, but I'm sure they weren't feeling great throwing up a 6 game streak while their boss is negotiating an extension.
- A consistent, long-term message.
- No coach in the history of the NHL could have coached the roster he's had to any championships. We're building here, so you evaluate the sturdiness of the blocks. There is no question that the team cohesiveness, the individual strides and the overall effort and no-quit attitude this team has is top of the league. That's all the coach and the leadership group the coach inspired and appointed.
- Nice to see a GM not be obsessed about having his own boys around. Liked what he saw, and wants him around.
Couldn't be happier #bobleive

I agree, when players know what is expected of them now, and into the future it's easier for them to prepare, and perform. Puts the mind of the players at ease... They can just, play.
For me this just adds to the foundation from the top to the bottom. Calgary seems to have stability for the first time in awhile. On top of that there seems to be a lot of communication among everyone involved in management and coaching, and they all seem to know what is going on.

I really hate the #Boblieve thing. It just feels like a bad #belieber mod.
I'd go with, "I Hart Flames", but that's pretty bad too.
Back on topic about the Hartley extension... YEAH BABY!

I hear of coaches as "players' coaches" or a teacher or a veteran's coach. He seems to be able to wear all of those hats. If you told me a couple years ago that he would be getting an extension, I would have been ticked. But pretty happy with this decision.

Bob has the respect of the players and the management team. He is the perfect coach for this rebuild. We are already over achieving even with this six game losing streak. Flames are still in the thick of it, and will only improve.

Love what he said about the opportunity to start something and finish it. That holds some truth as it can be a rare thing in the coaching world, and shows he's not taking anything for granted.

Outstanding news for the team and fanbase. Feaster did a great job hiring him and props to Treliving for not following the pattern of most new GM's and hiring his own new hire.
Hartley has been nothing short of a miracle worker.
The players buy into his message.
Consistency at coaching Is what this roster needs to grow and improve.
Lucky for us we have a good one.

Typical CP.
Came in to see about extension and the argument is about if/when it would happen.
Who cares?
Glad he is signed. One more piece in place.

Soooo how do details leak on coach contracts? How can we find out the salary and how long he is signed for? Just sort of an interesting topic, especially this year with Babock and coaches league wide apparently trying to get better salaries and benefits.

Based on the information available, Hartley is the best option now and in the foreseeable future, so it's good to see it done.
I'm not as excited about this as most it seems. I think coaches are always far from a sure thing, and in my eyes the good stretch under Hartley is still pretty short in coaching terms, with the early results being questionable. (But that's just more a generally cautious attitude on my part, it doesn't really have much to do with Hartley.)
I like the timing a lot. If the losing streak continued without Hartley having an extension, rumours about a possible coaching change might have started to circulate, and that's never a good thing. It's better to not let doubts sneak in. I also believe people often work the best with reasonable job security.

I was just listening to the posted audio of Hartley on SN960 and he said that just as I read it....coincidence? I think NOT!
He has such a calm and easy way - no wonder the players bust their humps for him.

As a fan, Hartley's positivity is a great thing to bear witness to on a regular basis. Even during a skid like this, he keeps emphasizing the same message of overall positivity, and keeps sticking up for his players.
Who knows how things will work out for Hartley and the Flames over the next few years, but I'm confident that we've locked a capable fellow to the helm.

Very happy about the signing. Hartley has earned this extension, he has done excellent with most of the kids and has squeezed everything possible out of this team. He brought in this hard working culture and it is paying dividends. He makes some interesting coaching decisions sometimes but as long as the results and culture are there I am a happy camper!
Go Flames!

It's great to have calm, level-headed people in management and coaching, and the lot of them are also very good at communicating with the media and the fans. I like where this is going.
