What was Sinclair doing there!? She had the game on her foot if she booted it, but instead tried to tap it into the corner from 15 feet out.

I have no idea what DeVos is talking about. Just because China is sitting back doesnt mean Canada is hamperred. The better team should be winning. Canada cant put two passes together.

Barring any late game heroics this was an absolute dud. Getting 53k out to game is when you need to grow the sport and make those in attendance returning fans.
I'd imagine a lot of casuals are walking out of here pretty bored and unfortunately that will affect their perception of women's soccer.

The kid has been good, Fleming, the 17 year old. Her pass was the catalyst for the weak Sinclair chance, but it's not like Canada has been able to get anything else going in the midfield. She probably should have started the game. Buchanan is great too, 10 of her in front of McLeod and we win gold. Sesselmann - terrible game. Schmidt not good enough. Sinclair with extremely limited touches, can't fault her much here. Lots to work on before Thursday for Canada, hopefully step one is planting some damn grass at Commonwealth.

Ugly game but Canada got lucky.
China shut down the area around the goal and Canada couldn't get anything set up very well.

The way she's been calling it all game, it was a foul. But I thought she over-called this game, overall.
Really mad about this if you're China. Perfectly executed game plan, great goalkeeping, great adjustment to the turf, took 50,000 fans out of it and made Canada's big guns non-existent.

It was an iffy call. Tough break for China. We'll take it though.

All three Canada subs a big impact. Good pace by Kyle on the right side. Leon draws the penalty. Fleming strong and composed in the middle. Shots 4-1. Good gosh that was boring till the final 15 minutes.

That's a foul any day of the week. Canada were very lucky. One of the worst games I've watched in a long time

That's never a foul. Leon lunges into the Zhao's arm, not sure what the defender is supposed to do.

It's weird, as it's such a big event to take your time getting to.

It could also be a football thing. When I head to the Emirates to see Arsenal I always seem to miss the start of the match and I'm not the only one as the turnstile queues are long before and after I get through them. I suppose it's that one final pint at the pub.

Canada were lucky and I think China deserved something out of that match. DeVos' comments were a bit off the mark as I'm seeing more and more elite clubs concede possession but play a pressing game where they contain the other team in non-dangerous positions and then use their superior technical skills to smash them on the break. While I didn't expect China to hit Canada on the break, they did look competent.

yeah DeVos remarks were basically, "China is sitting back, there's nothing Canada can do". So that's it, no solutions. Anyone that sits back and defends will thwart Canada so let's call this 0-0 and go home. Canada should be better than that and thrash bad teams who just sit back.

Scoring Winger

I have no sympathy for any team that is content to go for a 0-0 draw and basically not even try to score.

I don't think you can say that's never a foul, but you could argue it's 50/50. Never a good idea as a defender in your own 18 to have your arms up at face level like that.
