Islanders should trade Dal Colle for Petan. Dal Colle will never amount to anything after being cut from Team Canada.

Besides being a Leafs prospect, is there a legitimate reason Gauthier made the cut? I can't say I follow him much, but anytime I've seen him play he looked very average, if not terrible. His stats don't seem to indicate any upward progression either. Is he a really good energy guy or something?

It seems that many people outside of southern Ontario are wondering the same thing. If he plays any more than 6-8 mins a game we know who the whipping boy is.

I'm so confused by the lack of other goalies getting a chance to prove themselves, guess Montreal had the same pull as toronto! Fucale is hot garbage imo and could be reason why we don't do well again, don't know how good Comrie is but I think there really should have been more brought in rather than appoint life they did.

You hate to see guys get cut, but I am glad they cut some second year guys, they needed to shake things up.
Great to see Brayden point make the team. His dad is one of the most interesting characters I have met this far in minor hockey.....

The top 6 and d are fine, but IMO, once again, they filled out the roster with some questionable picks (17 yr old Crouse, Gauthier) in the bottom 6 and the goaltending is weak. I cant imaging those 2 guys beating out a number of the guys that they did, but they did.
I could see goaltending being the major achillies heal yet again unless Comrie gets on a roll.

That's as good a top six as you can get. That's pretty crazy actually. Lazar on McDavids wing? Yowzers.

This team dominated the Russians in that exhibition game with the exception of a couple of defensive breakdowns. They deserved to win and that was without Lazar and McDavid in the line-up. The team played really physical and really drove to the Russian net. On paper the line-up may look a bit underwhelming pas the top six but I thought guys like Fabbri and Paul looked really good. Point also impressed me as well. It's just one game but they play the Swedes in a pre-tournament game tonight which is supposed to be on TSN (although my TV guide shows NFL...) so it should be another good opportunity to see them before official tournament action.

I didn't see a thread for the pre-tournament game so I'll just post here. Canadians had a very strong first period. Swedes came out playing more physical than the Russians and have a good fore checking game, but Canada answered back well and have a 2-0 lead after capitalizing on the PP. After 20 minutes, more shots in from close than in the Russian game it seems.
Lazar and McDavid look very dangerous. Domi-Reinhart-Duclair line is a threat every time and man does Domi have some skill with the puck. D as Enoch Root mentioned, as a whole just looks solid right now and as much as I hate to admit it - I think the Oilers have a player in Nurse. Gauthier and Virtanen were the only players that didn't make too much of an impression for me in the first period.
