I enjoyed it as a summer popcorn mix, but i'd put it on par with Lost World (if you stopped Lost World before the T-Rex got back to mainland) in terms of quality of story. Effects are great, suspense is fun, good popcorn flick, but the original will go down in movie history as one of the great action movies ever made. This sequel will not.
Ugh stupid Lost World. I remember getting so angry during that movie when the T-rex landed in the city. So much so that I haven't watched that movie since I saw it in theatres. I've probably only seen JP3 maybe twice in its entirety as well. I had hope Dr. Grant could have saved that movie, but damn... William H. Macy and Tea Leoni were just so unbearably annoying.

But this Jurassic World. This one I like. I think I could watch it a good 3-4 more times. But still short of the 20 billion times I've seen JP.

That's exactly how I felt, especially when the kid ripped open the curtains when they first checked into their hotel room. Totally got to me.

I went in with mediocre expectations, and was quite pleasantly surprised. I was even impressed with how they managed to keep down the over the top cheese I kept expecting to appear for most of the movie.

Spoiler!

But despite when that over the top cheese inevitably came the final 20-30min, I still enjoyed the movie more than I thought I would, as a huge fan of the original. I really enjoyed all the references to Jurassic Park too. Someone who clearly wasn't a big original JP fan told me there were no cameos from the original, so I was pleasantly surprised to see Wu back in there.

I'd certainly rank it above Lost World and JP3, it's the first movie in about 2 years I'm planning on seeing again in theatres. I had the original JP theme stuck in my head the rest of the day after seeing it yesterday afternoon.

Good. I want Jurassic Park sequels more than I want superhero sequels, so that's really good.

DUMB!

FUN!

Great popcorn movie, I thought it lived up to #1, and pretended 2/3 didn't happen, which is perfect!

Saw it today. It was good, but all I could think about was it was a movie about a lot of bad decisions.

Watched last night and loved it. A real throwback to the original.
I didnt have any issues with the CGI Dinos, thought it was well done and quite frankly dont see much of a diff between the original. Some good scare scenes, dinos chomping on dumb humans and the Dino birds got into the action this time which was awesome.

The ONLY thing that pissed me off was the fact that Claire never seemed to break her damned high heels...even after running through the jungle, escaping the Rex and multiple other times escaping from prey, she should have just ripped them off and went barefoot LOL. She was also a bitch and I was hoping she'd end up as Rex lunch as opposed to Owens bed mate. eh whatever.

Watched it today and I loved it. The climax itself is worth the admission. Nothing will ever live up to the original but this was much much better that what I expected.

Saw it today. I turned my brain off and enjoyed the hell out of myself. Honestly one of the most enjoyable films I've seen since Guardians of the Galaxy. Is there a common factor? Pratt has instantly become a modern day Harrison Ford type IMO.

Had no idea JP still resonated enough with mainstream audiences to make it the #1 opening weekend ever. Guess this gives us sequels every two years.

Haven't seen it yet myself to judge. Will get around to it eventually.

Saw it today and thought the start was great but dragged on a little. Why can't they make a 1.5 hour movie anymore?

Brought back memories of when I was 7 and my grandma took me to see Jurassic Park though. Throughtout the whole movie she kept saying, "Why is it so loud? This movie is too loud!"

The generation that grew up with the movie has buying power and children that can be marketed the new toys too.

It's a win win for consumerism.

Has anyone seen it in Dbox? I'm probably going to see it Friday afternoon since we get the afternoon off from work but I'm torn between going to Metrotown to watch it in DBox or going to Richmond to see it in IMAX.

Yup. Because of guys like me. Huge fan of the original, and with a 4 year old paleontologist at home.

Saw it last night and loved it! Had a huge grin on my face for damn near the whole movie. By far the best since the original and I really hope any sequels beyond this are done well. Also probably the first time since the original that I really want to see a movie again in theatre and possibly more than once.
