Baertschi's best period since he was called up. By far.

Much better effort by Sven - if he keeps this up good things will follow.
Overall a solid first period effort by the Flames.

Giordano is playing even better than last year. I seriously sense a Norris nomination (at least) in his near future.

It might be his best but what has his line done so far this game? I think I missed something. How many scoring chances has he had and how many shots?? Hits? Take aways?

Good period with great pace. Two very fast teams.
Sven was much improved. In the first period he had the puck on his stick more than the previous 6 periods, combined.

I can't look at Jiri's face without laughing. He always looks like he's on the verge of being told the best punch line ever, but doesn't want to laugh too early.

Probably had 2-3 good scoring chances so far, they all forechecked quite well. Sven had a nice takeaway in the defensive zone (then iced it, but still). All are skating quite well, good to see. Hopefully one of them can pot one, they all need the confidence boost

My thoughts exactly. Jiri feels like the biggest troll in the league

Baertschi was stronger that period, but could have been a little better. 2 outlets at the redline in a row he missed led to 2 straight icings. Can be a little stronger in puck battles too. But I'll take this Baertschi over the one we saw the last two games. Keep it up kid!

Small steps. When he was so poor in his first 2 games, I'll take an energetic and committed display. The tangible stuff will come if he continues to work hard, Jooris is evidence of this.

I like his answer haha.
Roger: How did you find open net with 6'5 Bishop?
Jiri: Well I did.

Lightning are incredibly dangerous and playing much better than that game back in Calgary. Every time they shoot I'm worried…they're that good offensively.

Sven had 2 shots and one takeaway. Gooch had 1 shot. The line had about 5:30 of ice time in the first.
Gio and Granlund were the only others with 2 shots, and Wideman was the only other player with a takeaway.

Hmm was listening to the radio in the first on the way back from work and they seem much more happy with that first than some in this thread.
So who do I believe? Not a great period or a great period? Radio guys were very positive and thought that was one of the best periods of the year.
