In a interesting bit of trivia, there were 15 games played in the MLB last night. For the first time in MLB history ALL 15 home teams won. The previous record for one night was 12 games May 24th 1914

Things really changed in the course of a month.
Toronto looks good now. The Nationals fell apart, and the Mets have been strong.
Really St.Louis, and Kansas City are the only two teams who look to be in control of their Divisions. Other than that it's 4 Divisions that are all looking like a 2 team race, with the NL Central having two strong contenders for the Wild Card spot. I suppose Baltimore is somewhat alive in the AL East. But the Jays recent run vaulted them up considerably. The AL Wild Card is still pretty open though.

My first game at Camden Yards tonight. Looks like Sonny Gray is healthy enough to pitch. Hopefully he mows down the Orioles.

So the Giants just used a pinch hitter named Madison Bumgarner. And he hit a single. He can really rake for a pitcher.
Edit: And he starts a rally and scores a run. Legend.

The Cards and Giants having a heavyweight fight this week - split the first two games. I see one or the other winning the WS. But the Giants have a small problem to make the playoffs first.

What a great ballpark. Saw one game there 12 years ago, sat through the 2nd longest rain delay in Oriole's history!

They tried it again tonight but he struck out to end the game.

Another home run last night. He is averaging close to one home run every ten at bats.

So Moneyball 2 is going to be all about how Billy Beane gets fired for trading Josh Donaldson right? He might not be around to see the prospects pan out because right now it looks like one of the worst trades ever.

Worst trades ever? Not even close. It was hard to foresee Donaldson doing this well. At the time Toronto won the trade (I don't think many would argue against that), but few probably seen this coming.

Well I mean I don't know how it couldn't be seen coming, though perhaps not to this degree. He was a near 100 RBI guy two years in Oakland, and obviously Toronto fields a significantly better offensive team, affording both more RBI chances and chances to see good pitches. To trade your best player in his prime with more years under team control made little sense at the time and now looks like a debacle unless the prospects turn out to be great or better.

Reyes not happy with last-place Rockies
"We'll see what happens here," explained the native of Dominican Republic. "But in the next couple years, I don't want to waste my time like that."
"I'm at the point in my career that I want to win," Reyes told the Denver Post recently. "I say it over and over. I want to win. I don't want to spend the rest of my career on a last-place team. That's not the kind of player I feel like I am."

Poor Jose, maybe he should considering stepping up his play before he bashes Colorado.

Donaldson had 93 and 98 RBI the last two years playing half his games in one of baseball's worst hitters parks. His BA and OBP are really quite similar to 2013, but his slugging is way up - easily explained by his shift to Skydome and a much stronger lineup. Even his WAR and WAA are consistent with the last two years.
Personally, I think it was easy to foresee Donaldson doing this well. He was already an MVP candidate the past two seasons.

If the Giants were in the AL he could DH for them between starts. His ability to hit the long ball is pretty remarkable for a pitcher.
