Nice to see we outshot the opposition on the road, and with a decent margin too. (28-21).
Btw, it's Karri Rämö.
FWIW, even many Finns keep calling him Kari, because it's a much more common Finnish name. Karri is an unusual name.

Weber wasn't so tough. Colborne won several physical battles there. Shea mustn't be used to dealing with forwards his size.

Good game last night.
Backlund and Byron are pretty amazing together. The reads they have on each others game, the passing the cycling, taking it to the net through people, their defensive play is top notch.
So calculated, they own the game when the puck is on one of their sticks. They also make the right plays and have the proper positioning and reads in the D zone to retrieve the puck. That saucer stretch pass that Backlund threw up the ice from our zone to give Byron a breakaway in the third was very impressive. Too bad the puck was on edge when Byron shot it, would have been on highlight packages all week if he had buried it.
Glencross has been the weak link on that line, he just doesn't fit. So many of their forays into the offensive zone died on his stick, either from him bumbling it or making a pass into no mans land where the opposition gobbles it up. I like Glencross, I just think his game is too "individual" to play with these two guys.
Put Glencross with Colborne and Raymond...
Which brings me to how Hartley doesnt use Backlund and Byron on the PP. Seriously "mind bottling". They show that they command the game in the O zone, are our best players at handling the puck and setting up chances, yet no PP time? You have to have Setoguchi, Raymond, and Colborne with PP time instead? Have you seen our powerplay Mr. Hartley? Try Gaudreau Backlund and Byron on the PP. Hell make them the second PP unit. Try them as a line. Put Johnny in a place to succeed, with guys who have high hockey IQ and quick decision making as well as high skill. Some frigging creativity would go a long way out there.
Colborne and Raymond are not the types of player that Johnnys skill set will excel with. Backlund and Byron are. Come on Hartley, please?
Speaking of misuse, it is too bad Lance Bouma isn't getting more icetime. Like Byron and Backlund, everytime Bouma is out there he is driving that puck to the net. That hit on him last night was from behind, brutal and blatant, I don't care what Kelly Hrudey says. Hopefully he is ok and is able to suit up tonight.
Setoguchi had his best game as a Flame last night, but it was still underwhelming. Hopefully he builds off of it. The best play he made last night was fanning on the Hudler pass on the PP which Gio hammered into the net. Made me laugh.
What can be said about Giordano, Brodie and Russell that hasn't been said? Those guys are playing some great hockey so far this season.
Rough night for Engelland. His lack of foot speed was exploited multiple times for quality chances. Still better than Butler however.
Karri Ramo was spectacular at times. Adding another solid outing. He is totally picking up his strong play from the end of last season. Some of those saves in the third had me jump out of my seat. That glove one on Smith was simply amazing.
Nice to see the team we know and love from last season show up last night. The backchecking and forechecking was relentless and the entire team worked hard for 65 minutes, very deserving of the SO win.
After such a strong and hard working effort, tonight vs. Chicago could get ugly. Back to backs are tough enough. Hopefully the guys can find some reserve fuel left in the tank and bring this effort again.

Clearly, you don't understand the rules about how this works:

I'm not sure where Setoguchi's praise is coming from tonight... I thought Kelly had a hard-on for him all night, and from what I could tell, it was for no good reason, as I wasn't seeing it during the play.
What I saw was Seto botched 2 odd man rushes (a 2 on 1 and a 3 on 2) by not being able to pick up a pass, or stickhandle, or make pass to his streaking winger.
I hope he shows up in the coming games, because I'm not a fan of his at the moment....
