I think the only reason Ortio hasn't been pulled yet is because Thiessen was slotted to start tomorrow night.

Why wouldn't they pull Ortio and save him the humiliation?

Edit: I didn't see PMM's post above until after I posted the question.

I think the good thing here is that Ortio doesn't seem to be a fragile goalie. He had some bad losses last year and came back mad and would play an excellent game.

Hopefully he didn't lose that ability over the summer.

I didn't think Ortio had that strong of a training camp either.

Hopefully he can regain his focus, wonder if the thought that there was no job for him in Calgary this year has side tracked him a little bit.

Perhaps all the talk of Hiller and Gillies has made him think he's odd man out.

And we have a pileup.

Gillies is the 3rd man in. Someone got driven into the ice.

Oh no. Get Gillies off the ice. That's just straight up goonery right there.

First Sieloff bumps the Amerks player after the whistle and starts feeding him shots to the face even though the other guy didn't drop his gloves. Then Gillies goes after another guy, drops his gloves while the Amerks player is turtling, feeds him some shots, then starts picking him up and slamming him on the ice.

C'mon Gillies. That's so bush league. Same with Sieloff. Dumb moves from both guys.

Gillies gets a major and minor. Sieloff with a minor.

Flames are 2 men down for the rest of the game.

Thanks Gillies and Sieloff. Varone makes it 6-1.

Line brawl just broke out. And when Kulak and Grigorenko is one of the fights, you know the game has gotten out of hand.

Cundari and Schaller were also going at it.

Why? Is he now in favor of stupidity as well as truculence?

I understand showing the other team that you're not giving up and showing you've still got fight, but seriously, do it within the rules. Don't start fighting people until it's mutual. Even better, start a fight earlier in the game when it might actually make a difference, not when there's 5:00 left in the game.

Why Gillies is in the lineup and not Wolf is beyond me.
