If you hate it, don't bother following news about it. Simple.I hate field hockey. Do you know how much field hockey news I follow?

Back on topic though. If I were Platini, I would hold a congress of UEFA and do a vote among the members if they want to break off from FIFA. UEFA can be the new FIFA.

If the American justice system starts a big fight with FIFA, how can I determine which side is the bad guys?

Seriously, though, the Americans are doing the world a huge favour, let's hope they can get some of these guys to rat and eventually either remake or topple FIFA altogether. Of course, with all the money involved, and the endemic corruption at lower levels of soccer, even a replacement organization is inevitably going to be more of the same, but at least they'll perhaps try to be more circumspect in their looting.

We all know you hate soccer, no need to keep stating that. I don't enjoy rugby, but you don't see me going out of my way to say it all the time. The amount of people that like soccer is far more than those who like rugby. Get over it.

Kind of ironic considering the US is one of the least passionate soccer nations in the world. But then again they're also the only ones who really seem to take sports corruption seriously

I guess it was only a matter of time before someone called it FIFAgate. So stupid.

Too bad the 'gate' with FIFA has been going on since 1954

It's funny, because UEFA could have destroyed FIFA on it's own by just not participating in these world cups. Now they get to sit back and watch the show.

When it comes to corruption, bribery etc governments have a very long reach thanks to numerous country agreements. It's really just gravy if it actually involves an american or american businesses but if my company training was correct a government can go after someone even if it doesn't directly involve citizens or businesses on that countries soil. It need only affect a US business (though such cases are rare..they have more than enough to do with US countries using questionable business practices in other countries and activity involving US businesses and people).

Statement by FIFA President Blatter

http://www.fifa.com/about-fifa/news/...odule_news_top

As unfortunate as these events are, it should be clear that we welcome the actions and the investigations by the US and Swiss authorities and believe that it will help to reinforce measures that FIFA has already taken to root out any wrongdoing in football.

While there will be many who are frustrated with the pace of change, I would like to stress the actions that we have taken and will continue to take. In fact, today’s action by the Swiss Office of the Attorney General was set in motion when we submitted a dossier to the Swiss authorities late last year.

Probably not a coincidence. Much easier to study corruption when nobody in your country cares about the people involved or the sport you're investigating.

About 20 years too late, but this has been a long time coming. Hopefully some harsh sentences are handed down. Can't wait until the President Blatter is in handcuffs. He might not have been arrested this time, but you can bet some deals are going to be made with prosecutors to have some of those guys roll over on him.

Screw FIFA so bad. That whole organization is a shame all the way from the top to the bottom and is the #1 reason I cannot take soccer/football seriously.

As a guy who isn't interested in soccer in the least, can you give it a rest?

If the sport is brought up in the slightest you go out of your way to mention how you don't like it. Everyone gets it, it's annoying, it's childish.
