Very surprised apple can continue to charge hundreds of dollars more for inferior products. You've gotta think it'll catch up to them sooner rather than later.

Meh. I'm happy for a larger iPhone but the 6 doesn't excite me otherwise.
I like a lot of things about the watch especially the usual Apple attention to quality and detail. But I don't like the watch itself. It's too thick by half and I honestly don't want that many features in a watch. I remember my dad had this butt ugly Casio watch with all the features and I never wanted to be that guy. This (and all smart watches) remind me of that, updated.

There has to be somewhere for the antenna to get the signal. A metal body means there's gaps somewhere, they'd have to go for something completely different if they wanted no gaps, like plastic. The 4S and 5S had them in the band that ran around the edges.

There's both a Display Zoom and the Reachability feature. The sleep button has moved to the side as well to maintain one handed operation.

Okay. I don't get it.
The Apple Watch is pretty much useless if you don't have your iPhone with you.
The Apple Watch doesn't do much other than what the iPhone already does.
So basically it will save me from..... I dunno..... pulling my phone out of my pocket?
As for the wonderful fitness stuff..... I gave away my Fitbit because it doesn't measure cycling well at all. I presume the Apple Watch will be equally inaccurate in measuring calories burned from cycling. And if it is anything like the fitbit, any exercise that doesn't involve moving in some direction, like most weight lifting, again it won't record anything.

Oh, I do get that part, but why such a standout gradient? Why wasn't it more seamless to match the colour of the rest of the shell, or simply a colour that just matches well with it? In the past the iPhones have advertised not only their front, but also the back. This time they've showed the thinness and the front. Even they know the banding is ugly and have shied away from advertising the design on the back.

I think the colour is the same, it's just the texture difference is so different there's no way to make it blend. A complementing colour may have been better, but would have looked like a racing stripe IMO.
I think the chosen unibody construction limits the choices, but I agree it's not the best thing ever.. Samsung is copying chamfers but I doubt anyone's going to copy racing stripes

What makes you feel they are inferior? You only have to hold up an iPhone and a Galaxy to know one phone is of much less quality than the other. Galaxies feel cheap because well they are. The 5S a pretty powerful phone and still is amongst the fastest out there in a lot of metrics. Not everyone cares about pixels.

I think we're at a point where new hardware is getting less and less impressive. Screens can only get so big. Who cares about processor speed or RAM anymore? Its mostly overkill for the devices anyway.
The focus needs to be on the software. I think a shift in innovation needs to occur towards the user experience to really push iOS and Android to the next level.

As per usual I'm most excited about the new camera features on the iPhone. The best camera is the one you have on you, so adding f-stop control is a great addition... I'd still love to see shutter time.
Biggger screens, meh. NFC payment looks promising, but all comes down to market adoption.
As for the Apple Watch, looks half baked, the lack of hands on media access to the software, and the heavy CGI use in the promo material has me thinking it's a bit of "vapour ware" at this point. I hope I'm wrong, but I'm thinking they don't have a strong working prototype just yet, so they jumped a head and branded the dummy mockups.
I may just run out my contract, unlock my 4S and run it into the ground, really not feeling the need to upgrade again.

I think this argument has been fully abandoned by just about everyone but the most hardcore anti-Apple segment.
Seriously I know the OneplusOne, Nexus 5/4, Nexus 7, etc are all cheap but they are not equals. It has been proven in multiple tests that shoving a chip and a bunch of ram in a phone is like saying every V-8 out performs and out values every V-6. So much more to look at.
I think anyone who is holding a Oneplus should be happy, but don't for a second think you have a phone on par with a iPhone6 in terms of build quality. They are just different segments. It is like saying a Hyundai Genesis is basically a Mercedes Benz. Ya...No.
Sure you are paying a premium on the Benz but if that fit and finish and overall performance is what you desire then that is the car for you.
On a second note, I don't get the hate on for this phone. Who cares what they did or did not do first. There are so many phones no single one can be first on everything, they all copy each other. I personally think Apple did enough here to give a solid shot at top overall phone again. Lots to like, and if you are disappointed look to your own phone, what amazing thing does it do that Apple dropped the ball with here? If you can point one thing out, great keep your phone and be happy.

"Feels cheap"? Let me guess, you own a gold iphone.
When your phone is hundreds of dollars more than it's competitors it shouldn't be "amongst" them.
My last iphone was a 4. When it broke and I started looking around and realized I could get a nexus for $300 less it was a nobrainer.
Apple made revolutionary products at one time (ipod, iphone, ipad). Interesting to see where this company goes. Certainly not a stock I'd buy anytime soon.

I hope the magnet isn't too strong. For some things they're a great idea for connecting things, like notes on fridges or whatever. I am less keen on swinging that around my wallet or anything susceptible to being wiped by a magnetic field.
I do like the Watch and Watch Editions with the metal / leather bands look very nice.

I think the Nexus 4 is one of the best quality Android phones I've seen, and the 5C I have borrowed for work stuff makes it feel cheap. I'd like to see a HTC One (M8) though, from what I've read it's up with Apple in terms of build quality.
EDIT: Would have been interesting to see the iPhone with M8 stripes across the back instead of the 'D's.

NFC payments are strangely not as common as you'd think in the states given their popularity here in Canada.
I can tap to pay almost anywhere in Canada. When I went to Oregon for two weeks; absolutely nothing. Not even chip readers. All the old- fashioned swipe the magnetic strip through the card reader and sign the receipt.
It's interesting given that it's integrated into the phone, but... Where are people going to use it? Maybe merchants in Oregon and Washington aren't representative of the rest of the US, but I was pretty surprised by how little the technology was used there.

No most of the US is like that. That's why Apple talked about the security of current payment systems down there, with almost no one using the chip everything's magstripe. I think most of the rest of the world is already past it aren't they?
Next year is supposed to be when chip cards become a requirement (or something like that) in the US so that's probably when you'd see a big increase in NFC too.
