Yeah, that's pretty incredible. I was talking about that with my brother last night. They really hit the nail on the head with the content this expansion. When a game is 10 years old all you have to is crank up the nostalgia factor and WoD has it in spades. Tons of cameos from classic WoW characters (like Mankrik for example), heavyweights from Warcraft lore, and an overall familiar setting with the Draenor/Outland connection.

A nostalgic thing missing for me is 'Work Complete' sound when the a Work Order is finished... I recall an addon that had that for when you finished a quest.

That would be excellent. A couple really good addons I got are Broker Garrison, which shows you mission and work order progress for all of your characters, and Breeze which removes some of the animations in the completed mission tab.
The peon giving the work complete would be the cherry on top though.

WoW made a huge mistake after WotLK.
Up until Wrath, my goal was simple: Finish the storyline started in Warcraft III. I wanted Arthas dead. After killing Arthas, it was finished. They needed a new story line. Had they gone hard in with Garrosh, it would have been smarter. Instead they started with Deathwing. A guy you kill in both the Alliance and Horde campaigns of WCII. Why would I kill him again?
Follow that up with Pandaland and you pretty much put everyone out of it. Good on them for attempting a new story, but with no hook it was doomed to fail. They had tons of options for both of these expansions. More burning legion. The emerald dream. The sunken cities of the Kaldorei. Instead they took a swerve.
WoD is the first one to really get back to the storyline. Time travel is a bit balls but it opens the door to the Burning Legion again.

The WoW book "Stormrage" maybe had proven why an entire expansion in the Emerald Dream wouldn't be so great. They had been hitting at the Dream being corrupted into the Emerald Nightmare for some time, and the book portrayed the Nightmare as a dark place opposite of the nature in Azeroth...all death and gloom, and not exactly the variety you'd hope for in expansion areas. It was also very druid focused which leaves the rest of us in the dust. I thought them resolving the Nightmare in the book was a good choice in the end as it allowed Malfurion to return to the game without an expansion needed to do it.
I really liked Vashj'ir in Cataclysm, so I'm really sad they abandoned that storyline in the end. It had so much promise!

So I got my mage to 100 and maxed out his PvP gear... Mages are horrible lol.
I always enjoyed playing Fire, that isn't even an option right now it is so bad. Frost has decent survivability against all classes except DK, warrior, rogue, feral, they basically just instantly blow me up and there is nothing I can do. DK's I can run from, the others I can't I just fall over. However, all I ever do is just survive, the odd time I can get some burst off when nobody is watching me, but they always turn to me instantly because they know it is a roflcopter face roll.
So I am currently trying to figure out what I want to re roll until Mages are fixed in a season or two. I'm thinking DK as they are consistently over powered and never seem to get nerfed.

Everyone in my old guild, which has been on our server since the beginning are stunned at how many old faces are logging in, people who haven't played in 2-5 years.

I haven't fired this game up since early on in WotLK and i'm seriously considering it.

WOTLK was the last expansion I played as well, I am really glad I decided to give WOD a try. It has that old school feel to it. It definitely has that sense of community to it that most MMO's are lacking. The way they structured the mobs now is brilliant, instead of first hit gets credit, the main quest bosses and world bosses that drop good loot are open to anyone to hit for credit. So instead of cut throat screw you step on your throat style questing, you have people actually helping each other out. I've stopped multiple times to help someone down a boss I didn't need credit for, and had the same favor returned to me.
They also put in scenarios, for example you enter a certain area and its an open quest to kill 10 of this, collect 5 of that and kill this boss, and at the end of it you awarded a large sum of EXP. It brings a lot of people into the same area of a zone and promotes grouping to finish it faster. Every time I walked into one of these areas I was met with a group invite and a "hey welcome aboard lets do this". It was very refreshing.
They also fixed quest items by making them shared, so now if you need to pick up 10 skulls off the ground they don't disappear for the next guy, it really has sped things up.
I am playing the most gimp class in the game right now and still having a blast, so imagine if you were on a good one!
I decided to level up my Druid. I have always enjoyed playing a healer and feral is roflcopter right now.

It's now 10th Anniversary time. You get a Molten Corgi for logging on, and if you are lvl 100, you can raid the retuned MC. Beat Rag, and there's a 100% chance for a Core Hound Mount.
