Agreed. Too much drama.

Although, it's like Christmas for all NHL teams and their fans. Everyone gets together across the internet forums and chat rooms and wait in agony to find out which players their team is going to pick.

Once all the picks are done, the media, and the team execs all crawl into their own little worlds, message boards, and forums and everyone puts this petting zoo under a microscope and proceeds to sling together line combos and future scenarios, as if to play with them for a few hours. Fights break out amongst the fanbases and useless arguments ensue.

Then everyone's attention leaves the shiny new toys once FA hits. During FA, the process rinses and repeats with the shiny used garage sale toys.

I think you inadvertently summarized exactly why I love this period of the year. It is like how bears gorge themselves before hibernation.

Yep. Can't wait for this team to pick the Sam that falls to them and move on to the 2nd round.

Yep. The only way a Sam isn't available is if the Canucks move to 1st as that would leave the possibility of Ekblad falling to the Oilers as the Sabres are very likely to take Bennett.

I suspect that if the Oilers are sitting at 3rd with a choice between Ekblad and Draisaitl, they'll take Draisaitl.

With all these rumours coming out about Draisaitl now being more sought after than Reinhart and Bennett, one scout even said more than Ekblad, plus the rumour yesterday about the Flame talking with Buffalo so they can nab him, is this all smokescreen or is this the truth now?

I know he's quite a mature, level-headed kid with an engaging interview, but did it really raise his stock that much?

Anything is possible but I believe they would take Ekblad because they could immediately put him in their top 4 which is arguably the worst in the league. As long as they have Gagner they can live without Draisaitl.

His play at the world championships may have raised his stock even higher late.

I don't think we are taking Dal Colle, but I would say the chances are much higher than 0.7%

I think his play at the worlds did wonders for his stock. It maybe made teams sit up and re-evaluate him. Big, thick, puck protecting, elite passing, goal scoring machine who was able to carry his team into the playoffs when they had no right being there. I really think he is going to turn out to be the best out of the top four and would not be surprised to see him 1st or 2nd on some teams lists. I'm no scout, that is for sure but I just have a feeling about this kid.

Maybe teams are starting to realize Draisaitl pretty much carried the Raiders? I've always thought of him being a steal at #4... I agree that the bigger centers tend to have longer and successful careers (Thornton, Kopitar). I said we'd pick Bennett, but I am really warming up to the idea of two big centers on our team.

Impossible to say. My uneducated guess is that it'll be either Reinhart or Draisatl.

I've never been less worried about a draft. Whoever it will be, it's money in the bank.

I think Reinhart is the guy that drops to the Flames, and they happily take him.

I'm happy with any of the top 4. Don't want to see them draft a guy like Ritchie, something makes me think of Nemisz with him.

Impressive WC campaign and the fact that the Kings just won the cup with Kopitar again... I think reminds GM's that Draisaitl could have the potential to be the best in this draft.
