Damn... highlight of the thread, quoted for posterity.

I was one who wasn't thrilled with a potential Drasaitl pick, bearing in mind I know very very little about this year's draft crop. Probably some of that is bias against European players.

That said, it's hard not to be impressed by him. His size and his point totals on a crappy PA team are super impressive. I'd also argue that what he did in the IIHF USA-GER game was almost as impressive as Gaudreau (maybe not quite skill-wise but in terms of individual effort and points), given USA is presumably a stronger team than GER. It's hard for me to imagine Bennett or Reinhart doing the same in the circumstances but, again, what the heck do I know?

I'm definitely excited we may get Draisatl, potentially even by default. That said, I hope we get one of the top three forwards. I know we have needs on D, but it would be nice to have stabilize our centre position with elite or potentially elite players, all roughly around the same young age.

Fixed This trade I MAY make.

(I know we do not have a 4th round pick.)

Ekblad all day long. I think he may drop with the emergence of drasaitl. Bully for us!

My order of preference is Reinhart > Ekblad > Draisaitl > Bennett

Really? I hope that you meant to green text that because if we had the chance to acquire a top pairing d-man and the 8th overall pick for Dennis Wideman and a 4th round pick I would probably cry with joy.

It wouldn't be logical for him to fall, it's just my own irrational hunch. Or wish.

I don't want Phaneuf back, he thinks he is a leader, but he is not, and 7 years at 7M, to long and to much money.

I want Ekblad but I think he'll go 2nd, he's a can't miss player.

Wonder what it would take to get a Reinhart Trifecta...Max, Griffin and Sam!

Isles would ask for our 2015 1st for Griffin.

Sure hope Burke pulls a demonstration fleecing to show Treliving how it's done then if we end up with both Max and Sam.

I wouldn't mind trading our 2015 first for Griffin if we have the other two Reinharts. However, I wouldn't trade it until the deadline, and depending on where we stand in regards to draft position at the time, maybe I'd pull the trigger.

If the pick is looking like 10-20 then the isles likely don't make the trade. The only reason they do it now is because they think the flames are a lottery team

Plz no, i doubt we will do as well next year, i feel as this year we outworked alot of people and took them by surprise. I think next year they wont overlook us as much as they did before.

I know a lot of folks here love Ekblad, but a fear that I have is that the three top centers go 1-2-3 and we end up with Ekblad at #4.

Like I said, I know that would make many here ecstatic, but not me. I want another high quality center to build around when picking this high, and not a defenseman.

Really? You think the Flames went the entire season without anyone noticing that they were a hard working team?
From what I recall, that was all that anyone said about the Flames after the first 10 or so games. The league, and teams were well aware of who the Flames were.

We now have the opportunity to build off that success, and add some more skill into the line-up. I don't see that making us worse.

I'm not so sure about that... I am pretty sure the Isles would love to be in the 2015 mix. And the Flames need defenseman/defensive prospects. Win-win imo.

Obviously it would be stupid to do the trade right now, do it at the deadline if need be.
