I'd definitely watch a channel that covered more Olympic sports, especially the Winter ones. I lived in Germany, Sweden and the Czech Republic in the 90's and really liked Eurosport.

No, it isn't difficult. I think you over-estimate how much the average fan cares though. They aren't on sports forums like us, or checking sportsnet.ca every week.
Bottom line: consistency in scheduling makes it a lot easier for the casual fan to participate. And the CFL is on no position to alienate anyone that is a potential fan.
CFL on Sunday killed it, as it was the most watched game. The Saturday afternoon and Friday night ratings were not so good. Maybe CFL every Sunday should be the way to go.

The CFL itself doesn't want to battle the NFL. Most games run Thursday-Saturday during NFL season. Except, of course, the playoffs and Grey Cup.
Luckily Thursday games are just in the Summertime. But the rest of the CFL season breaks down to: 14 Friday, 16 Saturday, 10 Sunday, 4 Monday. CFL goes head to head with NFL week one with the same kickoff times.

The one Saturday game was fine. I think the bigger issue for the Saturday Stamps game was that with the camera angles it was unwatchable and anybody who tried likely said screw it.
The issue with Sunday is that for the last month of the season it means you are head to head with the NFL.
Really the CFL needs to change it's time year. Starting the regular season the last week of June and then having to play into November (when weather is less than ideal) makes little sense to me.
The should try to start the middle of May and end closer to the first week of October.

Ask the USFL how well that type of scheduling worked, SuperMatt.
The USFL and the CFL have very few comparisons IMO.
The USFL was a league that was trying to go in the US market and go head to head with the NFL.
The CFL is already a Spring/Summer football league that does not compete directly with the NFL.
I just know that as a more casual fan I am more likely to go to a game in September/October, than I am in November. Doesn't have to be a huge change, even two weeks earlier would probably help the weather situation greatly. You are wasting a month of good weather by starting the season the last week of June.
Look at the Stampeders regular season attendance last season for example:
Game 1: 27k (June 28)
Game 2: 27k (July 20)
Game 3: 35k (Aug 9)
Game 4: 32k (Sept 2)
Game 5: 27k (Sept 13)
Game 6: 28k (Sept 21)
Game 7: 26k (Oct 5)
Game 8: 26k (Oct 11)
Why does a team that is near the top of the league have declining attendance late in the season?
Edmonton was even worse as the year went on since they were a bad team and nobody wanted to go sit in the cold to watch them play.

Doh! Sorry, I think I screwed my memory up on that. The USFL was a spring/summer league that died because it was stupid enough to try and compete head to head with the NFL. Never mind!
However, I don't favour changing the schedule. Among other reasons, it is tradition. And screwing with tradition almost never improves a brand.
So it looks like these launched yesterday. TSN1-TSN5 are on Shaw 236-240 in HD, and all seem to be available with either the Best of HD package or the Sports 1 pack.
Right now, 1,3,4, and 5 are all re-running the midnight SC. In case you missed it.
Looks like US Open tennis is on 3,4, and 5 later this morning.
I hope at least 1 of the channels can showcase Canadian amateur athletes participating in their international competitions and show the CIS. There isn't enough coverage of these athletes, who represent our country at the Olympics or other major games like the commonwealth games.
If they have 5 channels, I am sure they can cover those other sports during the day. They should model after EuroSport more than ESPN in that respect.

I think that this will be good during big events with concurrent things going on, like the US Open right now. Premier League soccer as well. Pick your favourite or jump between some matches. Hopefully they get/retain the rights to more competitions, but even then we'll still see a lot of SportsCentre/That's Hockey/etc. loops as filler. That doesn't really bother me because nobody is forcing me to watch any of their 5 loops of that stuff anyway. The focus really is on the big competitions.
not too sure about TSN5 - last night (monday) they were airing friday night fights - i was not clear if they were a few days late or early.........i llok forward to them busting out some old time footage of kianna's flex appeal, trans-world sports and that episode of worlds strongest man where a guy named magnus wins
