That's what I'm talking about though, that's gameplay. If they work on what you're talking about they make a better game, if they work on some of the bells and whistles other people are asking for they put out the same flawed product with a new paint job. Like instead of fixing your car the mechanic puts shiny new rims on it.

Well, as a guy who spends just as much time playing around in the front-end features/menus of the game as I do in gameplay, those customization and ticky-tack improvements are just as vital to my experience.

You spend as much time in the menus as you do playing that game? I continue to be baffled.

People play the game differently than you, thus have difference desires. What a shocker.

Because then i could draw my goalie mask wth a horsie and some flams on it and then i'll go into replay and pause and stair at it for a awhile. Then ill take a picture of it with my Iphone and post it on instagram facebook and twitter. Then all my freinds will comment on how cool my mask is, and i'll be like...I know right.

But that's the thing, I can totally understand differences of opinion as to how the gameplay should be adjusted. Maybe you play a defenseman on EASHL and you think pass interceptions need to be tweaked, or the board pinning mechanism. Maybe I play RW and have a different opinion. But that's still gameplay.

Every year there are these cries to make tangential adjustments to the game rather than spending energy on fixing the fundamental issues with the game itself. Like I say, I want my car fixed, I don't just want new paint on it.

You may be correct in that the gameplay needs work, but the menu system and multiplayer functions are by far the weakest part of the games.

-Lag in nearly every online match is unacceptable
-participating in games for credits and xp towards improving a team or player and not getting said rewards due to the opposing player(s) quitting is unacceptable
-redundant, cumbersome and slow menu systems that are behind multiplayer menus from 10 years ago need to change
-the ability to pause in multiplayer is stupid plain and simple. If someone pauses the A.I. should take over

The menus and multiplayer are near broken and EA will hardly even acknowledge this

I actually have limited lag problems online so I question whether that isn't idiosyncratic to your setup. Is the quitting thing an issue? I thought you got credit regardless. Pause in online matches, meanwhile, is a thing that the dev team knows pisses people off and for whatever reason they're unwilling to change it. Still those go to the gameplay experience if not mechanics.

I completely agree with you on the menu system, which again is a pragmatic concern - goes to usability. Without a revamped menu system you spend more time annoyingly navigating menus and waiting for things to load and less time playing.

What I'm talking about is trivial bells and whistles like new player animations between whistles when the camera shows them sitting on the bench, or as discussed, the ability to customize your goalie mask. I will never understand why this is a priority for anyone.

If I remember correctly NHL 97 for the PC offered goalie mask and jersey customization. Oh how much they've regressed over the years.

I remember when Ramjasingh (sp?) did a video a few years back where he said something along the lines of "you've all been asking for 100% accuracy in your equipment, and this year we're delivering". I was floored that anybody even cared about that, but if you check out the EA forums those people are everywhere.

That seems to be the challenge with a game like this. People get very passionate about very different things. I don't really envy the developers at all. They get what amounts to an 8 month dev cycle on a tight budget only to be called lazy by a portion of their fans who will never be happy.

Half of the experience of playing Be A GM is done through menus. Signing, trading, strategy adjustment, etc. Having more robust out-of-gameplay features is indeed drastically needed.

Lag is a widespread issue for a large portion of the player base. Its not just me I guarantee you that.

The quitting is an issue in eashl and hut and you most definitely do not get credit for every game. In fact I can't play hut because everyone quits on me and I can never get credit. I tried 6 games and got 6 quitters.

I think that's because it depends what you use the game for. It's basically a giant sandbox so it's expected that everybody will use it differently.

I adjust the game so most of the default gameplay problems are removed. For example, the "cheese goal" option every year is rarely an issue and while the game doesn't count hits properly (typically in the 10-15 range per team), the physicality is typically good albeit a little passive in front of their own net. For that reason I would enjoy the offline improvements more since I can paint over the in-game simulation issues. Having even a semi-reasonable GM and agent AI in addition to a reasonable development curve for players would be amazing. two of the three seem to be off every year...many times three of the three.

That being said, I also realize NHL is an increasingly online game so I know my dreams are just that. I also realize that most users aren't like me so I'm not the target audience.

Okay maybe I overstressed that thats the only thing I want changed. There's lots that needs to be fixed. I play a lot of Be a GM, so things like goalie masks that I've seen for the last 8 years bother me. Sue me, it also bothers me when players faces don't look anything like them, or they are wearing the wrong helmet (yes i know you can change it). The menu's need to be sped up desperately.

My opinion is just as valid as anyone else's, as I buy the game just like everyone else.

More player faces absolutely needs to happen. There are like 4 players on the Flames that have their real face, and the captain of the team isn't one of them.

i'd also love a way to basically skip all the routine crap i have to go thru to get to the mode of the game i play most.

wait wait wait
press start
pick my login
pick my storage device
log into xbox live
finally..... now click thru to be a gm, and the save file i want

there has GOTTA be a way to set up my profile to basically get me to where i go 99.9% of the my playing time wtih the game and not have to button click this every time.

another stupid, non-gameplay, feature i would love.

Has there been any indication of when we might get to see some gameplay?

Oh yes, I forgot how quickly E3 was coming up. That's going to be great this year.

Playing NHL14 - why no scrums at the end of periods when you can have scrums at whistles?
