not a rip on your post just a general comment about this whole debate.
Not sure if they tanked for Crosby...but they did very little to prevent it. You can come up with your own conclusion...but perhaps you should take a look at this article about lemieux

I have nothing but respect for teams like Boston, Detroit,L.A, Anahiem, St.Louis and Calgary to a lesser extent, these are teams that quite frankly built there teams through smart trades and late round picks. Why would I cheer for a team that historically has relied upon the charity of the NHL drafting system to provide them with elite players. Pittsburgh took the easy road to winning....by losing season after season after season. Like I am suppose to have respect for this!
You know why I am a die hard flames fan because year after year, they play their hearts out and does management ever complain about any shred of fairness in the NHL drafting system....no...they just go about their business of trying to build a contender.
Hopefully the NHL look at changing the NHL lottery system, because it is a joke
