I can't believe it's been four years since he was drafted, Ferraro was slated as a first round pick but just slipped into the second round. Flames could have had him but went with Tom. Clock starting to tick on Ferraro making the NHL as a regular I'd say.

In a normal case, yes. But he's in the Red Wings system. They have patience in developing picks and not afraid to wait until someone is mid-20's to bring them up.

1st Period:
-Reinhart-Granlund-Poirier and Baertschi-Knight-Olsen were the two best lines on the ice that period
-Kulak is playing on a pair with Billins and looks very comfortable out there. He's further along than I realized or would have guessed
-Ortio looks good, as does Mrazek
-Sven was the best individual player out there. Fought for the rebound that led to the first goal and picked a pass out of the air on the forecheck to make something out of nothing.
-Blair Jones is playing a very physical game. You can see why he gets looks in the NHL. The physical tools are there.

The Heat look like the better team of the two in that period. Hopefully they keep it up!

Brandon Astle ‏@brandon_astle 1m No sign of high scoring d-man Adam Almquist, who was dumped from behind by Reinhart after a whistle. Looked bad. Would be a huge loss for GR

Fully admitting to being a huge Reinhart fan here, but I still don't see how that hit caused that or any sort of injury. He bumped him, perhaps a light push at best. It really didn't even look like enough to knock him over, nevermind into the boards and knock him out.

Poor guy. Hope he's able to come back. Just looked like a freak accident where he went down awkwardly

Bancks giving the old guy his removable bridge of teeth is hilarious... also disgusting.

Sounds similar to Byron's nudge on Sedin.

Also selected in that same draft year: Joni Ortio and Corban Knight.

EDIT: And Ben Hanowski!

Ferraro was a late bloomer as well, I remember watching him and my brother in the Okanogan Hockey School IDT tournament back when he was 13 or so, he was very much average in that group, think my brother outscored him that tourney on his team, and my brother didn't even make Buffaloes (Bantam + Midget AAA for those not from Calgary).

Griffins had some tired legs on the ice, but really, it's barely the 2nd period. This could come back to bite them.
