Good work on CPS to get this scumbag as quick as they did!

I wonder if the accused went straight for the throat slash, take 5 victims down pretty quickly.

Kitchen knife is a generic term. Plenty of knives in my kitchen are over 6 inches long, more than long enough to kill someone easily.

Interesting that there are witnesses . . . Which implies that there were more people in the house, who either stayed or ran away and came back; I wonder if there was a mad dash out of the house and five victims got randomly stabbed? The more details that come out, the more gutwrenching it is.

The SU puts on the event, so it is already student organized as it stands. Linking this tragedy to BSD is foolish, it could have happened at any weekend house party. I've seen more drunken violence at a single Flames game than I have in 4 years of attending BSD, perhaps they should ban booze at the Dome as it leads to crazy behaviour in the stands.
|
I haven't linked this tragedy to BSD. I have only linked BSD to mass drunkenness and stupid behavior. If however, it is discovered that all the individuals involved in this incident were in attendance at BSD and continued the party after U of C terminated official campus events, then I think it just might be safe to link BSD to this incident. Big difference though between linking something and suggesting that it is directly responsible.

Why creepy? You guys denied ever even knowing each other when you are in fact brothers. Just pointing out that any argument where you two are on the same side is likely flawed.

I was at that Queensland party where my friend was murdered years ago. Really ####ed me up for a long time seeing that, feel really sorry for whoever the people who witnessed something to this magnitude at that party.

Actually, he is correct that we hear more about it, because with the internet we do hear more about it.
There is less of it now though.

If someone got stabbed or stabbed someone after a corporate party at stampede the company who put on that party would have a good long look at its policies and how they contributed to the tragedy.
It should be no different here. It isn't BSD's fault but if you are a major institution you have to look at how your policies affect this situation and what you can do or could have done to mitigate it.
Generally when you provide a central location for people to drink it creates problems after the event ends because you now have a lot of drunk people in a central location. How events end and how people get home is an important part of planning these types of events especially if they end at 5:00.
(as a note I used to run similar types of student events at the U of S and if this happened we would be definately looking at it.)

Actually what I'm saying is it might be a little premature to extrapolate an isolated event to the perception of a larger societal issue, especially when most of the available evidence demonstrates that the larger societal issue in question is much more of a reactionary myth than reality.

A suspect fled the scene before police arrived, but officers were able to track him down a short distance away and arrested him with the help of the K9 unit.
“We're not currently looking for anyone else,” Poole said.
Hours after the killings, a police officer retrieved what looked like a bloody kitchen knife dropped in a gutter about 40 metres south of the murder scene.

Police say a man who had fled from the home was arrested with the help of a canine unit and later taken to hospital for treatment of dog bite injuries.
Multiple witnesses were taken to the Westwinds Campus and are currently being interviewed by detectives, police said in a statement.
There’s no immediate word on a motive for the attack.

The suspect was taken to hospital to be treated for a dog bite. His name will be released once charges have been laid, police said.

Hey Ozy, apparently we're brothers. Maybe we really should be for the purposes of annoying the piss out of puckluck2!
But I agree, back onto topic...
