How does that scoring system work again for pitchers. 3 points for every out, one point for every strikeout, and than deduct for hits, walks, and runs. Kershaw must have scored really high that night with no hits and no walks, and 15 strike outs. As impressive is that he still only needed 107 pitches to get those 15 strikeouts.

Lincecum 9 outs away from a no-hitter. One walk on 80 pitches . . .
Ace of MLB Stats @AceballStats #SFGiants
Tim Lincecum has at least one strikeout in each of his 237 career games (249 including playoffs), an all-time #MLB record.

Game Score was 102 for that game. Second highest for a nine inning game in MLB history. Highest was Kerry Wood's 20 strikeout shutout in 1998 which got a 105.
Scoring is calculated as (stolen from Wikipedia):
Start with 50 points.
Add one point for each out recorded, so three points for every complete inning pitched.
Add two points for each inning completed after the fourth.
Add one point for each strikeout.
Subtract two points for each hit allowed.
Subtract four points for each earned run allowed.
Subtract two points for each unearned run allowed.
Subtract one point for each walk.

Strange reaction by the freak to the Powerade bath in his post no-no interview. Maybe Powerade is his kryptonite.

He said he couldn't breathe.
Love Tim. He's been my favourite pitcher since he was called up. He's now the second Giant to throw two no hitters, along with Christy Mathewson! That was the most control I've seen him throw with since Game1 of the 2010 NLDS 14 strikeout game against Atlanta.

This was by far the best pitched game I have ever seen in my lifetime. If you factor in opponent, striking out 17 and 1 hitting a loaded Yankees lineup in Yankee stadium is about as good as it ever is going to get.
http://www.nytimes.com/1999/09/11/sp...e-yankees.html
This quote is still hard to imagine, because this many years later with all the advances, and considering Pedro was a pretty slight guy, I don't know anyone else who can throw 97 mph fastballs to the first and last batter of a complete game:
Quote:
As if he could fool anybody. As if the Yankees had any chance. Derek Jeter was Martinez's first strikeout victim, on a 97 mile-an-hour fastball in the first inning, and Chuck Knoblauch was his 17th, the last out of the game, on a 97 m.p.h. fastball. Every Yankee hitter struck out at least once, including Darryl Strawberry, who pinch-hit in the ninth inning.

On second look, he's just walking away from Amy G. I would too.

Ten Months of the Houston Astros' Internal Trade Talks Leaked:
http://deadspin.com/leaked-10-months...ade-1597951970
I'm a huge Stanton fan, while Correa and Springer are fantastic prospects, I'm kind of surprised Houston wasn't willing to discuss that trade to any great length.

You wonder now how this leak affects other GM's trust of the organization. Have internal memos ever been leaked like this before?

Rays and Yankees on both Sportsnet and TSN tonight, because the Yankees are dangerously under-exposed.

The A's are not waiting around to make trades:
A's send Addison Russell, Billy McKinney and Dan Straily to the Cubs for Jeff Samardzija and Jason Hammel.

Wow big move for any team to add those two guys let alone the normally conservative A's.
Neither guy is a stud but solid #2/3's that on any night can win a game on their own if they are on.

For anyone interested, I'm the guy wearing the Flames shirt in right field as Cruz is gunned out going for a triple.
I make my MLB debut at the 30 second mark.
